  1. I am about a quarter of the way through Hocus Pocus. Apparently, Vonnegut wrote the "book" on loads of little scraps of paper (or whatever he could find). Non-linear, extremely easy to read but with a large streak of madness running throughout. Loving it so far.
  2. Obama is just like the rest of them, imo - blooming hypocrite. It's alright for the Arabs to rise up against their governments but if a US citizen wants to protest about the global financial system, they get a water-cannon sandwich. He'd love to have the UK out of the Falklands because it'd likely be American corporations who swept in to establish the infrastructure and make the moolah.
  3. Beef, gammon and chicken for us. We're not big on turkey.
  4. I didn't want to big it up too much, Trev - but that's exactly how I felt about it. All this financial bolox in the news right now just seems like white noise now.
  5. Yes, I have seen it. One of the best comedies in the last 20 years. Papa Lazarou is not racist, Dave. You are his wife now.
  6. Well, I'm just speculating, and I can't really be arsed trawling through your past contributions, but I'd guess that those conclusions were not reached on the basis of the avatar alone. I think you may well have been "tragically mistaken" for a giant racist on the strength of something you wrote prior to choosing Papa Lazarou as your avatar. Just a guess. As for why you should clear up misunderstandings, I suggest its because you knowingly create them in the first place, setting traps for hapless lefties who'll take the hump and complain. But then, if you're doing that, you don't really want to clear it up anyway. Still, I must congratulate you for your aptitude. Your continued protestations of innocence sound almost authentic now. Have you had enough attention for the day, or do you need some more, darling?
  7. Actually, I do know that, mate. I was referring to the bloody big base the US has there, and my point was they don't mind the Brits having Diego Garcia because it suits their strategic interests. Didn't make that clear, I know.
  8. You can only really assess the poster by the posts, unfortunately. This thread has reminded me of being confronted with a small child who overuses the question 'why'? I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's got form in the pretending-not-to-be-a-racist department - as we saw with his Papa Lazarou avatar, a dead ringer for a Black & White Minstrel. Couple of people naturally got the wrong end of the stick, but instead of putting them straight, he spun it on for a couple of months, snickering all the way. He should move to Norway. Only 1.5% of the population are of African origin and trolls are revered by the locals.
  9. Known as "Gareth Google" in chez pap.
  10. Seem to remember something about Man Utd being interested in Nathaniel Clyne. If that's true, don't think we've got a chance of getting him.
  11. In other news, Verbal is due to have his first original thought in 2012.
  12. To clarify, Verbal googled "bibliophobia". 'It' is a very wide term. Thought I'd clarify.
  13. The Lurking Regurgitator?
  14. I was wondering why my heels seemed to have little nip-marks on them.
  15. A mate of mine said if you begin a sentence with "Is it wrong..." then it probably is wrong. Fear not, as in this case, I don't think it is. The human mind is naturally keen to come to terms with such aberrations. Slightly different, but look at the interest in state-sponsored mass murder, especially Hitler. Few would term you wrong for having an interest in the ins and outs of why he did what he did.
  16. So when are the Argies moving in?
  17. Fair enough - didn't realise it was that far off the coast. And yep, self-determination trumps the lot.
  18. Geographically, you have a very good point. However, the islanders apparently want to be administered by the United Kingdom, which provides some degree of moral authority.
  19. Obama weighed in on this earlier in the year, mostly on the side of the Argentinians. Bit hypocritical, in my view. They've administered Guam for less time, and they don't seem to mind the British presence in Diego Garcia.
  20. Twitter is your medium, mate. Much as I would like to continue throwing light onto every one of your dark little set of questions, I feel you'd only be bored by the answers.
  21. Over the past couple of nights, I have been watching a very long documentary entitled . Small piece on Frig Society in the manner of an upper-class toff introducing an arty film. Click it so I can knock one off over my stats. It is a history of human economics, a critique of our current system, and actually ponies up a few solutions to humanity's current predicament. I have watched all 2h 41m of it and can certify it conspiracy-theory free. Bit dry at times, slightly sarcastic after the hour mark, but very interesting all the same.
  22. you got to be starting somethin'
  23. This is too awesome to exist as a mere link Brilliant.
  24. Like the victim who is the top scorer in the NPC, TDD Still, we're a superior bunch aren't we? Bang up job on that thread title.
  25. Perhaps we could rename General Sports to Admiral Sports, or even Field-Marshal Sports. Spice it up a little.
