Cheers Micky, there are a few more aswell taken through the fencing. In fact and surprisingly perhaps, the remaons are still there. Mrs h parked there on Saturday when she went shopping, she reckons that it doesn't look that bad!! I seem to remember when it happened there was much speculation as to the cause. The park had been closed down but the developers leading the bidding to 'regenerate' the area were told that they had to include some leisure facility, something to do with the rollercoaster being of historical interest and there being a covenant in the lease. I don;t think the fire went down too well and the local council (to their credit) made it very awkward for the planners to proceed. They have recently secured over £3m to develop the site to INCLUDE a new theme park. Hope it world out to be honest as Margate's a great little town that although had it's heyday in Victorian times, still has a lot to offer and inho has massive potential. Interestingly they also have Manston Airport just down the road, the Channel Tunnel half an hour away and some of the bestest golf courses in the World just along the coast at Sandwich. Added to this the fact that the new high-speed rail link will slash journey times into the capital substantially. I can see the Isle of Thanet seeing a real boom in the next 4-5 years once the market gets going properly again and these people desrve a new Dreamland.

/\ My in-laws lived in Germaston (sp) near Jo'burg for many years. Nt spoke to him about the politics of SA for a while due to me not being a violent person and him on occasion tested that to the extreme. The language that I an expect to hear when it comes up would make one's skin crawl. Lovely bloke! Hates football, what else can i say about the *******. Incidentally they still have a gun back 'home' held by the local polie for safekeeping. Kept it 'just in case' they ever felt the urge to go back and, (I QUOTE) "shoot some *******" I am so looking forward to the WC, really I am, as I have since learnt to bait him to the point when everyone in stnchronised voices shouts "Dad!! SHUT UP!!!"

I as I also suspect has colinjb have rode the best 'coaster' ever made in the UK, that of Dreamland (nay BenBons) in Margate. A great old rickety wooden structure that always felt like it was about to collapse, thrill factor based on ricketyness wins over speed and sharp turns anw day of the week imho. NB Burnt down under suspicious circumstances (site development) a couple of years back so you can experience the thrill no more. They don't make 'em like that anymore, bloody Health & Safety! I seem to remember a youtube vid of the inferno but can't be arsed to find it now, plus it might make colin cry as it would myself.

Gypsy Tart Romany Slag Medway Mud Saw it for sale once in a Shirley bakery but otherwise only found it in Kent by myself. I've tried baking one myself before but failed, wish I could talk mrs h into making them but she thinks that they taste (and look) like ****. tbf they do look like a **** pie but as for taste, no way hose A. Pure unadulterated pleasure in a shortcrust pastry case.

I was amazed to find this afternoon (family get-together) that some of the kids found my contribution of a family sized Gypsy Tart "horrible"! Gypsy Tart; Medway Mud or Romany Slag as others know it is loverley and one of the few food items that bring back happy memories from school dinner times.
