A few people on here will be aware of this already (whether by PM's, knowing us personally or reading some posts from a few months back), but mrs hamster was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer. Long story short - and anyone who has been effected by cancer will confirm that it is a very very long journey with many many horrible stages and side effects, not least the emotional ones. Today we got the biopsy results following her op and I am so pleased to share with everyone who knows us that she has got the all clear. Pretty cool eh? Although she has a little way to go before she's fully fit and well enough to go back to work (she is dreading it I can tell you), that is more or less that! I wanted to thank a few people who have kept in touch and sending good wishes. Whether it was a solitary message six months ago or the people who have regularly asked how it's been going, I hope that you all know who you are. Please forgive me for not writing loads of PM's, but I have appreciated every single message and have read each one to her too. Please accept my sincere thanks the bottom of my heart. What I would also like to do is to thank everyone else on here who has kept me sane (yeah right!) and helped me to laugh when it was most needed and moreover when it was least expected. Thanks people, I dont care what anyone says, I think you're alright. ;-) Thanks so much, I mean that. Anyway, there is wine and ale to be drank and food to be eaten. I have been so knocked out by the news today that although I had to go in to work this afternoon I still forgot to eat something. Therefore we are off to The Clump in a little while to celebrate. If anyone see's two old codgers zig-zagging across the A27 after kicking out time tonight, don't run us over give us a lift ffs. Get In. hamster btw, this message is also coming from mrs h, she really does value the respite that the forum has offered her. She remains my wonderful wife, mrs hamster

Getting priority on a wireless network advice pls
hamster replied to hamster's topic in Technology Chat
After re-reading the advice above a few times I think it has sunk in that with our current BT eauipment I can not restrict the bandwidth that any approved devices use, only disconnect them periodically. Yes? Although it would be fun for a night or two to have the others in the house moaning and not even know that I was knocking them off, it is not what I am after ultiamtely. mderalove, I thi nk that you are suggesting a new router and upgrading the firmware. Yes? If I do this are you suggesting that the actual quality and strength of the signal will improve, thus making us all a lot happier? I would like to give them a taste of their own medicine by 'bottlenecking' their speed especially as I have had a couple of weeks of them ALL laughing everytime I have to refresh my connection and saying 'Oh, we thought you were supposed the expert'. I have never pretended to be an IT expert, all I tell them is that they are thick as **** - not the same thing in my book. Anyway, I won't at this stage be buying a new router but will consider purchasing a USB mobile dongle thingy and then they can have the whole ****ing BT router to themselves, including getting it taken off of the shared direct debit list. You wnat to hog it, you ****ing have it mateys!! ...and breathe... cheers for clearing the situation up people, most grateful I am. xx -
/\ Doc, I am going to have to dissect your post as it is a bit too lingo'istic for me. I think that we are almost there. I'll be back on tomorrow to let you all know how I am progressing. I'm actually quite chuffed with myself as I am learning stuff without having to face the torment and torture that is 'Adult Education'. See, learning can be fun.

Just to update as to where I am with this, I have the 'plus 365 days' bit. I can do a 'conditional format' on a cell to give it a red border (that will be fine for my purpose) when the date is later than today's date (which i have entered into a spare cell for practice purposes). So I am starting to understand how this works and some of the lingo ( true.false etc). Now I need to make the cell refer to the target date ie. 1 month prior to or less. Does that make sense? Somehow i need to make all these formulas refer to TODAY's DATE, bearing in mind that TODAY'S DATE must change in real time. This would be simple in Word as you can check the box saying "update automatically", but I can't find that in Excel. Don't worry about the footie, I will tell you when we next score. Really hope this makes sense? Questions welcome, but from the OP you should get the gist.

Yep, the Fleming in Mansbridge reckon they'll be closed to deter people from having a quiet beer and a relaxing walk to the stadium through Riverside Park.
