  1. What does it do ss? I ask as a couple of years ago, some idiot posted a shortcut that instantly turned the computer off, I nearly shat myself.
  2. and some money. Stu, if no-one makes you a sensible offer, and you are considering taking it to the dump, let me know as mrs h (the Chatham pikey one) will take it off your hands. I will even collect to save you petrol.
  3. Over the years we all encounter problems with computers, and probably don't realise what a wealth of knowledge we have built up. My 'area' is basic entry level, ie 'Silver Surfers'. That is why I hate it when something new like Vista comes along, as I haved to familiarise myself before I can show anyone else how to use it. I don't understand jargon and technically I am thick as pig poo. What are your "Top Tips"? In simple terms please. Here's 2/3 of mine for web browsers: 'CTRL' (and) '+' (plus) - to zoom in 'CTRL' (and) '-' (minus) - to zoom out F11 - to hide the taskbar, toolbars and borders (deffo one of my faves) Please note that some of my clients have visual impairments so the ones I have listed really are useful for them to learn.
  4. Just wandering how long people keep e-mails for? At home I used to apply 'rules' to sort them into folders as they arrived, but found that I never tidied the folders. Out of sight out of mind I suppose. Now I delete as I go, and if one might need a 'follow up', I add a 'flag' and come back to it. It really does help to keep on top of them. Don't forget to empty your 'deleted' folder every now and then too, I've seen them with literally thousands of e-mails in them, built over years. There aren't that many e-mails that need to be kept for longer than a month in my opinion.
  5. Whatever happened to "The Weekend Thread Sponsored by......"? It were really interesting to know what exciting lives you lot lead.
  6. I know it's not tms, but isn't paulsgrove the place where all paediatricians hang out, and that is a PO postcode: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2000/aug/30/childprotection.society so don't you go starting on us pompeylass
  7. And I bet there's a wee profit in those on e-bay, so may take a trip tomorrow and buy a case. thanks for the tip
  8. Blimey! That Ann Summers thread was months ago, you have a good memory mate.
  9. LOL back at yer stevo "Base Inspiron 1545 Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.0GHz,800MHz,2MB)" If I have learnt one thing from this thread it is that 3 is a bigger number than 2, so there. Also that price is -VAT so £349.21 Please don't do this to me, I am bad enough without your encouragement.
  10. stevo, I ain't gonna kid myself too much, I never wanted a bag for it anyway, but the free delivery (was £10.95), and the £7.50 off the quoted price must adds up to about 6% off, which ain't too bad considering the good initila price. The bag was just a nice gesture. He was really nice and although obviously a salesman with targets to meet, I felt that he was genuinely trying to help. he even found me these alternatives to stay wthin budget: http://www.accomputerwarehouse.com/product-info/Fujitsu-Siemens-Amilo-Li-2727-Dual-core-T1400-2GB-RAM-100-GB-HDD-DVDRw-Drive http://www.accomputerwarehouse.com/product-info/IBM-T60-IBM-Thinkpad-T60-Intel-core-2-duo-T2500-2-GB-RAM-60-GB-HDD-Combo-drive-XP-Pro which convinced me even more that i was getting a good deal.
  11. Webcam built in, though he did say that they are not as good as plu in's due to having to move the whole screen to get in shot, that'll be fine though. Pink laptop bag will look filthy soon I reckon, but it will stop me borrowing it, or carrying it for that matter. Oh yeah, it also comes with Vista Home PREMIUM which the others didn't so I am well chuffed tbh. Please, no-one find it cheaper or I will cry.
  12. ..and there's more: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=15353
  13. Great news for us lower league supporters in that there is to be a new publication every Sunday just for us Div 2, 3 and 4 fans (also some scotch bits). First one out on Sunday 9th Aug priced £1.50. http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~1737487,00.html
  14. Thank you all everso much, I am eternally grateful. Wesley, at Ac Computers did me a deal (£320) whereby I am getting this: http://www.accomputerwarehouse.com/product-info/Dell-Inspiron-1545-T3400-3GB-RAM-250-GB-HDD-Vista-Home-premium I negotiated over the phone and got free delivery and a (Pink) laptop bag thrown in, so in a roundabout way I kept to budget (I will keep telling myself this). I'm really pleased and Mrs h will be over the moon I am sure. Thanks all Andy

  22. I would feel acquiescent to be honest. Yes, acquiescent is a good word for how I would feel.
  23. I heard there will be an unveiling this week (ie Friday), but from a very unreliable source. I personally am of the opinion that many of us do not have a clue whther the current bunch are up to it. I am quite happy to wait and see how the first 3 or 4 games go and take it from there. It's only a game after all.
  24. SNAP. Do you live in Bassett? I was nearly rude to the lad who knocked yesterday, only had to repeat "WE ARE NOT INTERESTED" 3 times.
