  1. Think that is asking a bit much, although this has played a Vitalis role in cheering us up
  2. This has been a pleasant change. It has been good therapy for us, after all the trials and tribulations to finally be able to come on here and engage in some eyebrow debate
  3. Holy CARP... Legendary poster KPT is ousted after a mistaken post proves to us his real identity! Yep KPT is Padraig Harrington
  4. Hmm unusual suggestion to find on a golfing technique support thread. So TDD, what you are saying then is that the back swing should be more circular so that there is more spring in it? Or is this something designed for playing a round in cramped conditions under the North Pole? I know my old instructor said a good swing should be like clockwork but he never mentioned the winding up bit first. Will try that tomorrow
  5. Well, one thing's for certain. Let's hope the lads perform well tonight and AP doesn't have to give them the Hair Dryer treatment at Half Time
  6. Did my ligament about 20 years ago. It caused all sorts of problems with the knee not locking into place and grating of the knee-cap and I had to have an Op to cut it and re-connect it. My advice if it's something like that - do anything else you can to avoid it. Has caused all sorts of other problems over time, keeping the knee bent for more than 15 minutes causes muscle spasms that take weeks to get rid of on anti-inflammatories. Never played football again, but managed Cricket & Golf. Thought I was going in for a cartlidge and ended up on crutches for 8 weeks and physio for almost a year. With mine they had no choice but take the rest and the advice

Strange, I was certain Warsaw is on CET
  8. Shame Tottman isn't eligible tonight, as our first choice CB now he's Head & Shoulders above the rest of them
  9. I do hope that AP takes the opportunity today to bring some much needed width into our side. Hopefully we'll have someone who can curler few crosses into the box
  10. Ouch that makes 3 of us.... Which would leave exactly how many of last season's squad in the first team?
  11. Think I saw he mentioned something about Fringe players on another thread. So as long as Gillett has a dodgy haircut he should get a run out tonight
  12. You weren't drunk unfortunately. It's a very low cost TV package for our sat providers to squabble over. The joys of competition in having about 6 different Sat service providers within the same basic footprint. Showtime ditched CCC & L1 matches for that stuff. Although we've still got the joys of Big Mouthed Bass fishing to come... meanwhile back on captions The new Celebrity Ad Campaign for Franny Benali's Curry House got off to a bad start on Saturday
  13. What I loved is how once the train of thought started the whole Rupert thing just pooped (yes correct spelling) up and fit so perfectly into the stereo-type! But, no I promise not to do it too often, I'm just in a hooray I'm outta here for vacation mode, God Bless Airmiles Normal service resumed. Oh and lol at UP's comment
  14. Tee hee, can't resist it I know I shouldn't but hey, just for once! Look, I'm with you on the Brit elitism thing and also on the whole mess of the Brit planning process. I played in Richmond a couple of weeks ago, it was a nice course in the Park but because of planning regs it had a portacabin that was only matched in it's sadness by the officious and somewhat self important little chap who sat behind the counter. No changing or toilet facilities but signs everywhere telling people not to get changed in the Car Park on penalty of forfeitting your green fees. But that's Blighty for you, it breeds those sorts of people who have developed such a chip on their shoulder that such a small role should become something akin to the last outpost of Stalin. That is about the people who are attracted to those sorts of roles of apparent power. You find exactly the same types in Football Clubs. The Stewards in the Northam, Rupert, some Turnstile operators, TheAnti-Flag Gestapo, TSW mods (only joking). Providing facilities for the general public to choose to pay to take a part in a competitive game seems to be the issue here. Considering the number of overweight undereducated yoof being produced in the UK these days, perhaps the problem will disappear. After all, it isn't politically correct to take part in anything competitive, everyone should sit at home. Watch MTV or You-Tube and do what the Politbureau tell you is bad for you (with their ten homes paid for of course). Golf is not elitist and Football is not Working Class, it's only that way in the minds of a few who hanker for the old days of the Iron Curtain, the educated Oxbridge set. (Oh and you don't HAVE to join a club to play golf, I learnt on the Municipal courses, provided as a self funding service by the council - nice Left of Centre attitude there)
  15. Ah, so THAT's why you picked this weekend to be oop north! Enjoy the game, will be on my hols and off line for a couple of weeks.
  16. probably similar to that of Air France & Yemenia planes of late ouch sorry bad taste don't normally do that
  17. Here's an interesting one http://blogs.cricinfo.com/andyzaltzman/archives/2009/08/a_frisky_evening_with_statsgur.php ........England averaged 6.49 runs per wicket less than Australia in this series, but still won. This is the biggest runs-per-wicket deficit ever overcome to win a Test series. In the entire history of cricket, the human race and the universe put together. Here endeth the stat.
  18. Aircrew are good as well. Won't go in to a "who is the best" argument except to say to anyone else on here no matter what the price, Gulf Air isn't worth it, and the ONLY planes with Emirates worth paying Business Class fares on are their new A-380's. We don't use Qatar much because it takes 10 hours to UK instead of 7, but they ARE good. Mind you, you should have seen them when they first started, one 747 all economy class. They decided to stop in Cairo & Beirut to pick up some passengers on one trip I was on. Totally unscheduled! Hope the hols were good, I got airmiles tickets for a "tour" on Emirates to that part of the world for 36 quid to get out of here during Ramadan, so will be pretty much following your footsteps. My post was more a point that the FL haven't actually worked out yet who owns Munto. It will in some way be related to Qatar's SWF, that would give the FA some real issues when they come to do a FAPP. Besides Amanda Staveley, some other people at many levels have looked into some of this stuff in detail and it is a minefield. If the naive go in rather than the wise then the fun down the road could continue for a while yet!
  19. Golf is not a game of perfect. Dr Bob Rotella.... A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day in the office. Everyone Why do I always play better with a hangover. DP My total technical input on matters golf. Meanwhile, back on track and Saints related, for those few who didn't make the Forum Match where the proof was printed.... You do know Tiger Woods had an approach about buying Saints before Admin don't you? Mark Steinberg said it was the single funniest thing he had ever heard on a golf course. Still bought the beers after. (that last line was ITK golf speak) :-)
  20. ASH WAS RUPERT??????????????? And you kept this to YOURSELF????????? Banning is too good for you you should be transferred to the Lockerbie thread in the Lounge and soundly Stoned to death
  21. So get off yer a*ss and qualify for Dubai Desert Classic instead of those big ones. Get here and I'll have a word with my Marshalls and make sure you make the cut and everything bounces out the rough ok. You'll be amazed how well you play with a couple of Bullfrogs inside you.
  22. You see there speaks a man who's never played golf with American Buddies. There's this rule you see. It is remarkably easy to hit a tee-shot about as effectively as Lallana hits a shot at goal. the ball can often go less than 10 yards. Now in Blighty when that happens you have to buy a round of G&T's. When you play with Yanks they have a different rule. meanwhile I give you Cricket, Baseball, NFL (yep that's for pansies), oh yeah, Horse Racing, Skiing
  23. FF, snap out of it you melodramatic c*ck. (there, see I can do abuse sometimes) You are so much above this whole nonsense. The point is that this is a virtual world, not the real world. Every so often some of us make a mistake and get upset, so what, this is Second Life. You get snippets and rumours. Many do, some from old friends who work at the club, some from friends or family who work in the legal profession or other odd careers. The only time that any trouble really arises is the magic word FACT when it is used in a post. That is when a poster comes across to some as superior and it raises hackles and a response comes. It is so much easier to say, I had an interesting conversation with the bloke who washes the cars at the cement works. You will know, many of the lurkers will understand and be grateful to you and some will just abuse you. So what? Put the information up in the right way and it sits there. I did it with Al Fahim. Got tagged today but apart from that I was pretty certain of my facts and my sources, but I used poor humour or copious fingerbasedbullshine to get the comment in the open. Later on I can go back and sit here with a few smug told you so's but again not rubbing posters faces in it. This forum has had too many magical moments but has lost too many good posters, so STFU and get back to work you tw*t
  24. OK 19C I am actually with you on the subject of the inhabitants of golf courses in the UK, but when the Little Englander glasses come off, you will actually be shocked to find that there are now far more Asian men and women playing golf than there are members of UK golf clubs. There is always another side to the coin. Over here around 80% of club memberships are from Asia. The game is seeing a massive explosion in popularity in India, but also we have a very large number of UAE Nationals playing the game. Khalid Yousef is at a Multi-national 6th form college and as a scratch player has qualified to play in the last two Desert Classics as a Scratch handicap amatuer he was of course not very good but he only finished 2 places behind Soren Kjeldsen & Mark O'Meara. Golf in the UK is a strange animal, the snobby clubs and the blokes on the Muni. I find it real odd when I come back but you have no idea how fantastic it is to be able to spend some quality time in the countryside with some friends. Golf is however part of a much larger global family, which for those of us no longer of an age to play Footie or cricket allows us to play a competitive sport. You should talk to some real golfers some time( sorry Will). Pro Am day at the Desert Classic here is a good one, I'll introduce you to some of my mates, they'll fully understand your PoV about planning and snobbishness, but they'll show you the other side of the coin. Monty's tale of how all the Europeans tried to copy Tiger in his early days and spent 4 hours a day in the gym and running 10 miles a day is priceless Could any other sport in the world allow a total numpty to stand alongside a global sports superstar and compete at the same level? I was never good enough at footie, once faced Shoaib Akhtar (luckily didn't know it at the time) but I beat Monty at golf in a tournament on a proper course..... (when he was still good & I was a hacker) St Will? you play on the Challenge tour? A lot of that is telelvised here these days
  25. Well actually, yes you do.... When you play over here in 45C. In fact even the England World Cup Squad in 2002 had problems coping with a simple game of golf. Nice guys though but for professional athletes they reallyknew stuff all about energy conservation and fluid management. No surprise to us when a few weeks later they stuffed it up in Japan. Oh FWIW Michael Owen's one hell of a golfer, nice guy to speak to on a golf course. He views it as an important part of his total mental relaxtion inbetween games but trust me he is as competitive at golf as he is (was) on the pitch.
