  1. I would imagine a well off club such as Southampton FC will have written off the 4 pence in the pound of £35k by now.....
  2. Spooky.....I'm listening to Alanis Morrisette as we speak....
  3. Can anyone recommend a plumber and/or drain technician who covers the North East corner of Hampshire? I need a small access panel installed in a downstairs soil pipe. Cheers p.s. other more substantial plumbing work potentially in the pipeline (pun intended) - e.g. I think my central heating pump is on it's last legs and probably needs replacing this year at some point. In fact, the whole central heating system, including boiler, is a tad old so probably needs a professional opinion as to when/if it needs updating....
  4. Was just about to start a "Anyone know a good plumber?" type thread and couldn't see anywhere obvious to put it. Might be worth having a "Tradesman wanted / Tradesman available" section? Just a thought cheers
  5. Yep. Very good deal(s). My post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek

  7. Shouldn't we be praising the fact that we now have much more open politics whereby the coalition have set up review panels and committees for various policy decisions headed by people from across the political spectrum and don't try and put a spin on the verdict? (yes, I know this particular committee was established by the coalition per se but there have been plenty of government commisioned policy review panels headed by politicians from all parties) Unless people are yearning for the days where the Blair/Mandleson/Campbell sanctum would micro-control policy creation and reviews. Jenkin's committee has one view, the government has another. Wow, there's a revelation.
  8. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2011/jan/07/david-chaytor-jailed-mps-expenses David Chaytor, the first former MP to be convicted over the expenses scandal, was today sentenced to 18 months in prison. The former Labour MP for Bury North last month pleaded guilty at the Old Baileyto three charges of false accounting, days before he had been due to stand trial. He faced a maximum sentence of seven years. Chaytor had admitted false accounting involving a total of £18,350. He had agreed to pay back the sum before today's hearing at Southwark crown court.
  9. Converting loans into permies doesn't count (well, not when I'm making up the rules as I go along it doesn't) :-)
  10. But according to a lot of people on here, risk of injury (to any player, regardless of whether they are a transfer target) is one worth taking to play a full strength side in the FA Cup.... ;-)
  11. Sooooo, here we are then......end of Januray transfer window Week 1.....here's hoping the remaining few weeks are more interesting.....
  12. Oi...Post pirate.... ;-) http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?27328-Blackpool-build-up-!&p=928082#post928082
  13. Indeed. A judgement on this one can only really be based on personal instinct. Which means that one man's instinct is just as valid as another's. Phew. Agreement to disagree. Harmony is restored in SaintsWeb land :-)
  14. My view isn't as categoric as that - i.e. I've no statistical or tangible evidence to offer by way of conclusion that a cup run will de-rail our run in - I simply have a pragmatic gut feel that we'd be better off concentrating on the league 100% after tomorrow. That's all. I acknowledge that a cup run can sometimes have the effect of galvanising performance in the league but this isn't always a side product of a cup run (a la Portsmouth and Middlesborough in recent memory). So, I don't believe anyone is citing any exact science in coming to their conclusion one way or the other. My view on this particular matter is based on instinct not logic (which is counter-intuitive for me as I usually go for the logical side in most debates). Besides, it's not an argument that anyone can win as we'll never know one way or the other if the cup run (or lack of one) had an influence on our final league position.
  15. Body language experts on standby: http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2260709,00.html Austin to feature on 'Football League Weekend' Posted on: Fri 07 Jan 2011 Town fans would be well advised to tune in to Sky Sports' 'Football League Weekend' show this Friday evening, as it features an extended feature with star striker Charlie Austin! The show spent a day with Austin's family and friends, as well visiting his former manager at Poole Town - the team from whom Town secured his signature last season. Presented by George Gavin, 'Football League Weekend' starts at 6pm on Sky Sports HD1 on Friday.
  16. No, we'd be playing Oldham in the Football League Division 1 (8th January being the original date for this fixture). Would much rather we were playing Oldham away on a Saturday, as planned, than as a re-arranged fixture shoe-horned into mid-week.....
  17. officialsaints Saints FC RT @nataliekitcher @officialsaints how many tickets sold so far for tomorrow? #saintsfc
  18. Who's got that idea in their head?

  20. ...
  21. Most people who are suggesting that we'd be better off being knocked out are saying it from a strategic point of view, not because they don't think we can win it. I believe we can win this game but my gut feel is that we'd be better off not congesting our league fixtures anymore than we currently have.
  22. You genuinely believed that Blackpool wouldn't field a second string team before buying your ticket? 'Twas the most likely scenario IMHO.
  23. Rain stops play...
  24. Are you Frank Muir ?
  25. I won't be unhappy if we go out on Saturday but I won't be celebrating any Blackpool goals either. I will however express my ambivalence in abundance.
