When Newcastle went 2 nil up they threatened to run away with the game and I'd have happily thrown in the towel at that point... Going in 2-1 at half time would have been ok in the circumstances, but the McCarthy cock-up for 3-1 killed us. All that said, we should do much better against 10, and then 9 men. Yes, the dreadful conditions made it easier to dig in and defend than it did to attack, but no excuses really. All that said, you won't find me joining the doom-and-gloom brigade just yet. We had a fantastic 2020 and I'm convinced we can rediscover that form. With Armstrong and KWP we'd have got something from today (IMO). We can't underestimate how important those two players have been to us over the last 12 months. It took us a few weeks to regain our confidence after last season's 9-0 and it'll probably be the same this season. I still think we'll finish top half (just). #glassstillhalffull
