Well we have signed shit loads of players who barely get a game look at last season the likes of bbd, Taylor etc .. so does it really matter if we take the gamble of getting a goalkeeper in early .. also it’s not like whoever we sign is gonna also be on ramsdale type wages
Main point I’m making is it would be nice if we could a johannson or someone secured rather then scratching about in the last couple of days in the windows or ending up relying on bazunu when it’s super likely ramsdale won’t be here
What happens if Ramsdale does not leave and you've already signed a replacement?

Don’t see the big deal really we sign downs when we have plenty of other striker options .. not to mention if ramsdale wants to go its fairly obvious he will get a move as he’s pretty much a top ten premiership keeper no chance he stays. . I’d much rather get a replacement in now then end up having bazunu in goal as we left it too late that would be an absolute disaster
1) Strikers can be rotated for league games, goalkeepers are not normally. Managers tend to pick a 1st choice and stick with it.
2) We sold Onuachu, which makes room for Downs in the squad. I wouldn't view Armstrong or Brereton Díaz as central players (Still is playing them out wide), so that leaves only Downs, Stewart and Archer for 1 central striker role.
3) You didn't address this... Would be foolish to get a Ramsdale replacement without 100% knowing he is leaving. If a replacement was signed and Ramsdale ended up staying it creates a big squad and financhial mess.

Biggest concern is it’s starting to feel like we are gonna end up with bazunu in goal this season ..surely we have an idea if ramsdale wants out or not ? If so might as well get a replacement sorted now instead of dithering about waiting for him to go first and leaving everything last minute ?

Pretty poor lack of ambition really…
Bit of an overreaction with 5 weeks of the window left
No need to replace out best players when they haven't left and we do not know for sure that they will
The squad needs to be smaller, alot smaller before more incomings.
A lot of activity I'm the window comes at the end. As a result of players/agents/clubs waiting to get the best possible outcome for themselves

Why didn't you actually answer his question?
I've no idea who it is. But who it is has no bearing on the truth of the rumours posted by them (if that is what he was getting at).

Who’s behind SaintsExtra?
SaintsExtra is not the source of the story; they act as a news aggregator. They include the tag of where they got the story from.

Great interview in the Daily Echo. First time I’ve ever heard one of our players quoted as saying “ I want to win every fucking tackle”.

My how to do it guide - offer any of BBD, SE , BK and JA in part exchange plus cash or even one of our spare defenders and they might bite.
The guide has an issue, as Coventry can not afford to match the wages we pay players.

Another PL club linked with Ramsdale, but looking elsewhere...

Dibling has never played there and Matsuki is injured
He has played there throughout his youth career. From the man himself...
“I’ve been the exact same since I was about five years old playing Sunday league. I’ve always played one position – right wing or central attacking midfielder."
Plus under Russell Martin Dibling played as a false 9, which has crossovers with a number 10 role.
The injuries to Dibling and Matsuki are only minor, they aren't going to stop them being able to play as a CAM in future games, only the two for the Spanish training camp.

My thoughts are that we just don’t have anyone to play there outside of Fernandes
Dibling could and Matsuki perhaps.

Striking options need to be refreshed?
Playing a 1 striker formation as main tactic. Have Downs, Stewart and Archer as options (plus Armstrong & Brereton Diaz could play central rather than wide if needed). I doubt it'll change from that. All should be effective at Championship level.

Not sure we can read much into half a preseason game against a second division Spanish side.
A good save is a good save regardless who the player that kicked the ball plays for.

yes that is correct, when he signed it I doubt he knew he'd be playing the 2nd tier, and much like all the others we have sold over the years most if not all had length left on their contracts.
In which case he can't complain if he didn't ask his agent to include a relegation release clause. That would then be the fault of the player/agent.

Well acting in our best interests for a business is to get a good price and then invest and buy another. That seems our business model. At the same time it would be lovely for us fans to see him in a Saints shirt, but why shouldnt he be allowed to florish in the PL where he deserves to be
Because he agreed to sign a deal until 2029 with Saints and wasn't forced to at gunpoint 😉

Cheers SL. As mentioned further up the thread, if Spurs are interested in ABK, then perhaps that puts us in a good negotiating position for Donley, should Spurs decide to loan him out again.
The article is about Hamburg being interested in Bella-Kotchap, not Tottenham.
Tottenham are mentioned in the article because it says Hamburg are also interested in Spurs' centre back Luka Vušković.
So it doesn't impact Donley.

If the opposing manager has no championship experience either then possibly yes.
How is the league label making a difference to the match?

Such clauses often come with conditions as to the latest in the window they can be activated in order to avoid being left without time to get a replacement.
