Post Match Reaction: Crystal Palace 0-1 SAINTS

In before the merge! We didn't play great, but a win is a win. -
Hard to blame you if you did. I really do wonder about some of our fans. We've got the best academy in the country; we play attractive, progressive, possession football, we're in our second season back in the Prem with the only clubs above us being those who are so-called 'big clubs'. Things are good, and things will in all likelihood get better. Yes we lost today, and yes there is room for improvement. We're on a journey and I love it. COYRs! And TheVman - keep posing your snippets!

Frustrating, but not the first time we have seen this. Fundamentally our problem is speed of thought and movement in the final third. Too often we have none: lethargic passing, no-one making darting runs and lack of ability to see and execute the pass if there is movement. This is an issue since our pressing game results in us squeezing high up the pitch, and teams have now sussed that when we do so we rarely hurt people. It's only been Hull, in the first half, when we've really moved the ball with conviction in the last third. SRL is a legend, but he's too static to play to our style - needs to become the Plan B sub. Davis is neat and tidy, a good player but but lacks the class. JRod has the movement, but can't play up top on his own. Sam G looks decent - but is clearly still young and learning. Gaston is starting to look a player, but needs more in front of him. Such a shame that Dani turned into a cock - he could've been the player to make a difference. For me we should give Gaston and young Sam a run of games; we're comfortably mid-table - let's let people develop. Oh, and MoPo is a class manager. People saying otherwise need to think back to the days of Gray, Wotte, Redknobb etc. If he has a failing it's persisting with his preferred tactics when we don't have the players to truly implement it. But what would you rather? SRL up top being fed by hoofball?

Love the Ninja! Kamakazi defending though. Looks cold there too.
-
We're moving the ball so slowly! No zip in the passing, and players looking leggy.

If you thought the Southampton tower climb was good...

I'm not a fan of heights, but that was okay. Enjoyed it. The 'Dont look down' film on c4 was harder to watch. Possibly because I'm 3/4 way through a bottle Rioja to be fair, but hey.... -
I like him. Always have. Very good in recovery/last ditch tackles. Timing is generally good. Lacks a little physical presence, but a solid prem-quality CB. Could we do better as a back up?
-
Is somewhat similar to our old managers experience.
-
That's so sad. My thoughts are with Sam and his family. Bet Dad was so proud to see Sam perform in the way he did against Yeovil and Arsenal. RIP.
-
"****in love Top Gun...I'm Maverick and you're Goosed" says JRod.
-
Flores, diving, cheating ****.
-
Agreed. Looked very rusty, and tried too many ambitious passes. A very good player though, who provides some much needed muscle for us, but has to work on his passing. Scares the **** out of me at times! The reality for us is that we have 3 excellent defensive midfielders, any of whom would walk into most premier league squads. Happy days!
-
Nice from Davis......chases back 20 yards to nick the ball.
-
FFS. I pop downstairs to check on the dinner and my 2-0 Lallana with the first goal gets ****ed up. Nuts.
-
Now that is a good goal. A great team goal.
-
Stop talking about making Sushi you daft bint.
-
We need Cork on in the middle - he keeps thing ticking over better than big Vic. Would like to see Sam on for SRL too - there just isn't the movement up front today.
-
BOOM! Didn't think THEVMAN was English. Had a feeling he was Forren........ And now I am off to the pub.
-
This. Plus young Sam has a chance to get a few games and goal under his belt. Great for his development, great for encouraging the other academy guys, and another great advert for us. I suspect we're going to be privileged to watch a lot more free-flowing, no-fear performances between now and the end of the season.
-
Somehow this gave me a flashback to Saturday afternoon wrestling on ITV.......big guys in tights trying to unmask Kendo Nagasaki. Think I need a pint.
-
Sad his move to us didn't work out. Record signing, Italy no.9 - playing for Saints; I was so excited when he signed. He SHOULD have become the blue ribbon signing that provided leadership and class to help the club and the academy graduates push on to the next level. Should've, would've, could've.... Instead he turned out to be a cock. I do remember the pics on here of him in his Y-fronts, with people stating they wouldn't want him anywhere near our great club. Drain the pint glass and move on......
-
Any news on a replacement?
-
Confirmed by us where?
-
You could make a case that SRL wouldn't have got into the position in the first place...
-
Loving young Sams runs in behind. AL nearly picked him out with a beauty of a reverse pass early in the first half. Enjoying this game. Hope the 'terrible performance of Arsenal'......'their worst performance in ages'....... continues.
