As for your knee the first thing you will need to do is get a good range of motion (100 degrees or as near to as possible) before working on strengthening the area. When strengthening try not to go straight into resistance stuff as this can put too much force through the joint, try using mainly static exercises to begin with. As mentioned earlier a leg brace or tube support can be good for keeping swelling down as well as the usual ice, elevation etc. Out of interest how did you manage to do both lateral and medial ligs?
