  1. Not exclusively by any means. Hooiveld, Fonte, Hammond, Connolly, Murty, Jaidi, Butterfield, Guly and Steven Davis were all around 27 or older when we signed them. And we've had plenty of others around the age of 24 or 25 when we got them (Chaplow, Harding, Fox, Richardson, Sharp, Lee etc etc). Only a small proportion of our total signings are youngsters, the majority have been playing league football for a number of years.
  2. How do you come to that conclusion? JRod I'd concur is a bizarre transfer; Steven Davis looks like being just what we need, an experienced and quality head in the middle of the park. Clyne looks to be a very good signing, one for right now and for the future. And Gazza is clearly one who is going to challenge Kelvin pretty soon. We haven't made enough transfers, that's of course not for debate, its a fact. But I would struggle to be overly critical of the trabsfers we've actually made; JRod aside they're pretty self-explanatory I'd have thought.
  3. I wouldn't hold much store in that; I've been pulled over a couple of times and breathalysed before (I'd not been drinking) and on both occasions the police officer told me that it was because my driving had been "erratic" (it wasn't) and they suspected drink. I think its an excuse that gives the pulling over a bit more credibility than just "I suspect you've been drinking".
  4. My prediction is 2; Ramirez (or another winger) and a centre back. Which then potentially leaves us scratching around for a GK, second centre back and/or left back, or leave further business until the January window.
  5. I can only think it must be something like that. Or for clubs to think "Oh God, our team is actually much sh*tter than we first thought, better buy some players".
  6. No, not all clubs are in the same position. Many of our peers have either completed their summer dealings already, or are holding out for just one or two players. We're around 4 or 5 players short of our earlier stated summer ambition. But you're right that the window should shut on the first day of the season, its crazy to have it open for just a couple of weeks following kick off.
  7. I'd guess wages could be a tiny bit of a problem......!
  8. I don't West Ham's included the Jarvis fee, so they go up to £20M.
  9. So much for Sunderland reigning in their spending. And swansea look to have done some terrific business, -£10M net spend and a couple of real bargains in Chico and Michu.
  10.
  11. I think the real question is; what on earth is a professional athlete doing out in his car with alcohol in his system at 4.45 in the morning? No matter whether he was leathered or just slightly over the limit, its an extremely poor decision by him.
  12. Championship team of the year last year would suggest he was playing close to his best then, so he'd be a player in form.
  13. Cry me a river. This new system is IMO the fairest way of prioritising tickets, as it rewards those to go to the most home AND away games. Once it gets going properly and people's levels of loyalty points are more established it will become even fairer; season ticket holders will likely have more points than non ST holders, and ST holders who've been to some away games will have firther priority still. And it perhaps encourages people to go to away games where they may previously have opted not to, so as to build up the points level.
  14. Did you not see the swathes of empty seats in the Saints end at Man City? We won't sell out all of our away games. The London clubs, most likely we will, plus Reading of course and maybe the Midlands clubs will get close to or at our capacity. But I imagine you'll have little problem getting tickets for Everton away which will get your points up in time for West Ham away.
  15. No. Are you? It's why I said it "seems" like they don't need to sell. They may do, but there has been no major exodus from St Andrews over the summer and have brought in players who will likely be earning in the upper wage bracket for the Championship. Also a new manager who has publicly stated that it would take silly money to take away his star players. So I'll stand by opinion thanks. It seems like they don't need to sell.
  16. Been thinking about this one; as much as it would be a great signing I think we'd have to break the bank for him, and I'm not sure if I think that's worthwhile. He's worth £5M IMO but not upwards of £7M or £8M. And Brum don't seem to need to sell, he's not itching for a move away, it could be a very tough sell.
  17. Unfortunately our wonderful online system fails to recognise such trivial matters. The Man Utd game has been sold out for a week or so, but you have to physically view every single block of the stadium to actually realise this.
  18. Well done for missing the point, and glossing over the points I've actually made in this thread, where I've actually conceded that some people probably do formulate an opinion based upon race. And you accuse me of point scoring?! How wonderful. I did enjoy how you classified this as a "rant" though. Are you that intolerant that you consider an opposite viewpoint to yours as one spoken purely out of anger? Interesting.
  19. What would you like to know Tim? That I have friends? That could be an alien concept to you, I suppose.
  20. What has that got to do with me having an opinion, you silly little man? If it helps your straw man argument, I spent most of yesterday evening in and around the company of some of my multicultural friends, but that's neither here nor there and entirely irrelevant. You daft bigot.
  21. Ha ha; if it helps I'll ping off some private messages to the mods for you pal
  22. Of course there are probably some idiots who will discriminate through colour. I'd like to think they are fanastically in the minority, and my experience around Saints fans would suggest that's true, but who truly knows? What gets me is when ignorant people like Timbuctoo try and speak on behalf of a substantial number of the population in response to a general viewpoint about the merits of a particular footballer, and wade in brandishing the race card. Its a fantastically naive, thoroughly unnecessary and wholly abject point of view to claim a consistent racist view is an often occurring incident, without any true knowledge of what you're actually talking about. But then I find Timmy to be a bit of an objectionable pr*ck at the best of times, so I shouldn't be surprised at his nonsensical ramblings I suppose.
  23. Its not outrage. Its a desire to not be associated with the claptrap currently emanating from your keyboard.
  24. Speak for yourself Tim. Don't ever presume to peddle that nonsense onto me, thank you very much.
  25. The racism jab really boils my p*ss. It really does. Such lazy and self-righteous bullsh*t from idiots who haven't got a grip on reality and love getting a bit of faux outrage.
