Modric isn't really an attacking midfielder. He's a player that keeps the ball moving. Look at the number of goals and assists the guy gets, very poor if he plays as an attacking mid.

He wouldn't be a direct replacement for Modric...they are completely different players.

What does net spend prove? Liverpool spent 35m on Carroll. City spent 32m on Aguero. Who would you prefer? Spend has nothing to do with quality, and strengthening in the correct positions. So what's your point Charlie?

The other thing is that just because Clyne is better than say Norwich's RB, does not mean he is automatically Premiership quality. By that logic any player who is in the Premiership is indeed Premiership quality.

Rodriguez definitely not. Who's forward line would he get into? Clyne I am umming and ahhing. Issue with him is he is young, and could properly fail if in a bad defence. Which ours is likely to be. A player like Kyle Naughton has spent a season doing this, and has excelled. That is the difference.

The issue I have is that only one of these are of the quality we need right now. They have great potential, but not the required Premiership quality for right here, right now. Also, none of those are CB's. I am pretty relaxed, people seem to think I am sat here, head in hands, rocking forwards and backwards, muttering under my breath. My fiancee is due in 5 weeks with my first child, so I have far more on my plate than panicking about signing a CB. However, it doesn't mean that I can't sit here and express the opinion that we haven't signed enough quality in time for the start of the Season. I also believe we won't have the requisite quality by the beginning of September.

Like who? Most teams have strengthened sensibly and well, especially those around us.

It was my belief that had been said. Either way, even if not, there is no way that Adkins would have wanted to leave it this late. If he did, that is very, very risky.

To be fair, I don't, which is why I don't think it's actually down to the scouting. I think there is a massive issue somewhere in the club, I'm not sure what, but it is preventing us signing our targets.

As was Roger Johnson. And look where they both ended up, Blackburn and Wolves. Not even a mid table side. That says to me that they may have been scouted by the bigger clubs, but their scouts saw that they were not very good. Which they then proved at Wolves and Blackburn respectively.

Yes, but by the sound of things (and if we sign Dann) it's going to be: If you can get an 4/10 player on the last day of the window or a 4/10 in June, what would you go for? I'd go for June myself, as he needs all the help he can get.

I agree, I have. However, my point is being proven more and more on a day to day basis. Something has gone wrong somewhere, as even Adkins said he'd have 2 CB's in by City. Where do you believe this failure has been?

All of this is conjecture though. My opinion is if Dann is the best that we can do at CB after knowing that we were promoted from the end of April, then there has been a failure somewhere along the line. Where is what I want to know, and where the uncertainty or conjecture is coming from.

I know that, but (a) going back to Dann and (b) signing Dann smacks of desperation as he couldn't have been our first choice CB. If he is, and I have made this point before, then our scouting network (which doesn't look like they have done much this Summer) needs an overhaul.

What if Dann is? You asked me to select someone. I did. Doubt he would be much more (if anymore) than Dann, and he's been in a poor Sevilla side for the last couple of years.

Come on, it can't take you THAT long to find the player on Google and read about who he is, how good he is etc...

Not really, if we are trying to sign Dann, it means the club are very desperate to just bring in anyone who has played in a back four in recent years.
