I think we should look closer to home. Who/what's the only constant in these deals?
-
From reading his poor English on his Twitter before I would say it is probably unintentional hints.
-
No it's not. The most likely outcome is we're not prepared to pay for the player over 2 years. Don't believe there is anything underhand in this deal.
-
Agreed.

It seems to me that people are getting overly aggressive with those who question our potential transfer policy/strategy and get overly angry at those people (like me) who make those queries. There is nothing wrong with doing that, and on the whole it is done without aggression, name calling and what-not. I agree, it is not the be-all and end-all, and I think we'd all do better to care less about football than we do. However this does beg the question as to why people get so frustrated at what is surely a relevant question/speculation to be raised. Sorry for your loss.
-
We all know the point you're trying to make, it just seems you don't have the requisite intelligence to make it convincingly.
-
Stop being stupid, no-one has said this. People have raised concerns as to how our transfer activity is done, that's all. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean it doesn't warrant being talked about. The phrase 'close minded' applies to you more than anyone.
-
Fine, we'll leave it at that then, I obviously misunderstood your post. I agree only those involved really know the ins and outs of transfers, so it is very difficult to know what is true and what isn't.
-
As said above, Mike Ashley.
-
Not true. When the transfer took place Liverpool negotiated a deal with Newcastle that would be '£15m less' than Torres to Liverpool. This was due to the fact that Liverpool had to find a replacement, and Newcastle wanted the money up front. Source for this was Mike Ashley. There were no add-ons with these deals, it was straight cash, lump sum.
-
No he won't.

If it wasn't aimed at anyone specific, I question whether using a serious mental illness such as Bipolar for jollies is such a good idea, especially considering the experience you have with it. By the way, you do realise I am a massive NC supporter don't you? However, I also realise the man can do wrong, and all through his tenure I believe his issues have been around transfers and concluding the deals needed. I have never, ever said that NC is an idiot, and this is where people like you over-reacting to my assertions create issues. If you don't agree with what I say then put me on ignore, I may do to you considering your immature and ignorant view of mental diseases is actually quite offensive.

HCDAJFU - The transfer deadline countdown

Not 2 years ago he wasn't. Try pretty much 4 years ago. -
No they're not, but as you say we don't know how long those one took, and what issues there were. I do remember the Jack Cork one seemed to take a while though.
-
It's not the norm, but it does happen and quite often.
-
That's just not true though is it? Nobody is trying to tuen speculation into fact. People are speculating based on previous transfer dealings, and the information that is available to them. Just because people on this forum only seem to deal in black and white doesn't mean that those putting forwards contrary opinions are necessarily wrong. People are very close minded here, and increasingly myopic.
-
If you're naive to think that a Bipolar disorder is just something that is suffered by those that don't agree with you then I think you need to take a good, long, hard look at yourself, and grow up.
-
£15m up front, £7m paid over next 2 years. This would mean we'd need to pay 4.5 million Euros to Penarol up front, and 10.2 million Euros to Bologna up front. So 14.7m Euros based on the Van Persie deal.
-
Not true. Liverpool paid £35m up front for Carroll, as did Chelsea and Torres.
-
So you don't feel we have had any transfers held back by NC in his tenure here then?
-
I agree, it is reassuring. The part that worries me is that Cortese doesn't mess around, and I wonder if this will sour the relationship between the clubs.
-
No, as in problems where transfers fall through regularly through 'strange' situations.
-
What have I said there that is untrue though? Even if the deal went through I still think we're being held back in the transfer market as he isn't a 'football' man.
-
No, of course not, but we blatantly weren't prepared to broker a deal to the extent that Bologna want as we haven't. We must have known how much was wanted (approximately) and the terms of payment. If we didn't then that is an extremeley stupid way to do business. That's like me going to a car showroom, saying I am interested in an Audi R8, taking it for a test drive, adding in all my optional extras and then saying "I'm only prepared to pay over 10 years."
-
Yes, but that is one side of the spectrum to the other. We have a choice to have a non bent football man in there.
