This sums it up for me. We simply don't have the clout to be spending £20m+ on players. The last time we spent close to that was Ings, and it's obvious he isn't going to stick around past the summer. Over recent seasons, teams like Leicester and West Ham have been able to spend double that on numerous occasions, and the relative quality of their first 11s vs ours reflects that. We'll never be able to build a squad capable of challenging the top 8/Europe if we persist with scouring the bargain basement for players. And under the current ownership, there's pretty much zero chance of that strategy changing. We'll survive by the skin of our teeth this season, we'll lose Ings, Bertrand and Vestergaard in the summer and replace them with more of the same cheap options, and we'll probably get relegated next season because at least two of the promoted teams (Norwich and Watford) will outspend us in the transfer market.

The really annoying thing is that, as bad as we were, the goal that won it was so poor and pretty much a fluke.

Well we've got to HT without conceding. That's better than I was expecting but we've ridden our luck a bit. As usual, the only player having a good game in an attacking sense is Armstrong. Djenepo anonymous, Redmond reverted to type and Ings getting no decent service so far.

Got my mug today, courtesy of my wife by way of an early birthday present. I'm very pleased to discover it's a decent sized, good quality sturdy mug, and not the bog standard cheapy generic type with a dodgy print on it I was expecting.
