FRANCE to lose its AAA credit rating!!
Saintandy666 replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Lounge
It's not that funny though. Whether you like Sarkozy or not, the UK has a lot of exposure to France and if their bond yields rise, and they can't afford to pay off their debt that screws us up as well. It's Italy I am more worried about though. I think France will be okay(unless Italy crashes, in which case we could all go down with it). -
Why Saints fans got arrested against Brighton.
Saintandy666 replied to PhilippineSaint's topic in The Saints
No, the reason they were arrested was because of their vile homophobic abuse which from what I understand went far beyond the juvenile, uninventive and frankly rubbish 'usual' chants. And to be honest, they are doubly moronic to continue doing it despite being recorded by police. -
Just worked out how much my SP30's cost on Insurance

Where speed cameras go up, deaths and accidents are reduced. I'm all up for that knowing that somewhere there are children still alive that would otherwise not be, who are now able to lead lives to the max. Good deal I'd say. -
I agree, there has got to be something legal somewhere which leaves them liable to get it taken out at the very least. Though of course the problem of the supplier being bust makes it harder. Cosmetic aside, and whatever you think of it(vainity or not), if someone pays for a product they should get what it is advertised as.

Tbh, if we really want to 'make a difference', the first thing we need to do is get off our addiction to oil and get on to other sources of power like nuclear(thorium or uranium) or tidal or wind or solar(a mix of them all really). Then we would be able to take actions without fear of being held to ransom.

Racialism is more about scientific statement and evidence. Anyhow, I don't like to draw differences full stop. We are all equal and should be treated such. And just for Dune, let's have another Dumbledore quote 'It matters not what you are born, but who you grow to be'
-
Correct. There is racialism which is saying people of different races have different qualities and then racism which is actually saying because of different perceived qualities, then the races must be treated to different standards. One is dangerously close to the other and personally I just think we should concentrate on what unites and allow equality to stem from there. Race is irrelevant or it should be if not for a few nasty individuals. Edit: having looked into this a bit more it seems there is much debate over whether the two terms are the same these days or not.

She is on This Week next week. Andrew Neil will probably destroy her over her comments, as he often does when he lays into her with hard questioning.

Yes. No extra money is spent at present, when crossrail finishes, the budget for crossrail will be transferred to HS2(about 2014ish), and then after that, there will be a slight increase in that over 10 years that hopefully our economy can sustain. It isn't one big hit or 'new' money at all, it's a continuation of rail investment and over a long period.

Hmmmm, good point. If the manufacturer hadn't gone under they would be the obvious ones to sue for the damages as they would surely know they were using the wrong kind of silicone... but it's hard one now.

Capacity and infrastructure in the decades to come.

If there was any all-out war, and hopefully there won't be, China and Russia's stance will be important. I can see Russia staying vaguely neutral(though they are known to be supporting Syrias regime), but I think China wouldn't stand from it. They have too much to lose from such a war as their current ascension to superpower status is based upon economic domination of a worldwide kind, and if the US/EU is engaged in some kind of all out war, their exports will drop and their internal market isn't developed enough yet to make up the difference. Relative stability is in their interests at the moment.

Surely there is some sort of contract breach here, surely somewhere there is a point which guarantees the patient will actually get what they pay for put in them and not something else?! So surely someone(i.e the clinics or the manufacturer, though I know the manufacturer has gone under now) is liable to be sued to get them out?!

Cameron seeks independence referendum clarity for Scotland
Saintandy666 replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Lounge
http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/jan/11/alistair-darling-charles-kennedy-scottish-independence - Salmond claims that as 90% of oil would be in 'Scottish waters', they should get 90% of oil revenues. - Also says that debt burden should be equal to population percentage, i.e 8%. -
I think there's always been serious wealth from billionaires But seriously, money talks regardless of your background.

All nations can be found to be quite dubious though as all nations have to be built in the mind of the people who are from the so called nations. While people may pledge loyalty to certain nations now, in 200 years time it will be a different set of nations. Nations can be built and can be unbuilt over time. But I guess if people born in the area we call Scotland feel 'Scottish', I guess the History or build up of it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. -
See, it does work There is a Dumbledore quote for all occasions. I’m pretty worried about all this stuff though, even if it does seem to slip under a lot of peoples radars. All these happenings point towards something larger soon. I personally hope it just stays at this covert level, because war would be disastrous for everyone. It'd be interesting to see what China would do.

Well, I'd like to think that we'd be out of the crisis by 2026! Construction doesn't begin until 2016. The spending is spread out over more than a decade. It's not one big hit, and we desperately need the upgrade. I never said the crisis is already over, just that it should be over and receding by the time construction begins and certainly over within the decade.
-
Good point. Current finances are irrelevant. As this will be post-crisis spending and over years.

But back to the point of the thread, a lot of this hinges on the deal Salmond would be able to negotiate in the event of independence. If they get a 'crap' deal on debt and oil and what not, it could be disastrous. -

Awwwww, thanks Duney If only I could believe you. -
Sounds good, but as with all rumours these days, I'll believe it when I see it!

Using some of my own knowledge and some of wikipedias knowledge I can tell you... Well, there were 5 Istari or wizards sent to Middle Earth to guide its peoples against evil. 2 'blue' wizards, a 'brown' wizard, a 'grey' wizard and a 'white' wizard in that order of superiority. Well, I believe Suraman lost his God given status as head of the white council of wizards when he turned to help Sauron (he dropped his white colour, donning a multi colours instead). Gandalf was killed by the Balrog but was sent back as the 'white' wizard, more powerful than ever before to guide Frodo once more. And there you go, though you are probably laughing at me right now, I take your failure to address my points on tradition as victory.
