  1. So name me one player that we DIDN'T sell after 1997 to the first club that asked... Talking of underqualified coaches...you are comparing Merrington with Wigley and Stuart Gray then? No, thought not.
  2. Hmmm..interested. Tell me more..
  3. According to Lowe in the 1997 interview...£6.2M...more like £4M. Lowe forgot in his interview that we got over £3m in return for the sales of Richard Hall, Shipperley and Widdrington. So it wasn't as if the money was travelling one way was it? Also on the interview Lowe claimed that 'we' had given Graeme 'x' amount of funds....hmm surely that was the old Askham regime and not the Secure Retirement version?? My memory was that Souness wanted in the region of £7M to 'take us to the next level and keep progressing'...Lowe apparently offered £2M. Souness apparently told Lowe that he couldn't guarantee that we would even stay in the Premier League with that level of investment. Seems that Rupey started as he meant to go on. Wake up...
  4. Who would you believe out of those two?? I know for a fact that Souness had already put down roots in the area, and had also bought a Care Home business in Lymington at the time. Hardly someone that's looking for the door without a genuine reason. I think I know who I'd trust and he doesn't have rosy cheeks.
  5. Christ!!! How many times?????????!! The criticism of Lowe has now NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS BACKGROUND!! Majority of Saints fans simply do not like him because he: a) He oversaw the relegation of this once proud club after 27 years in the top division; b) He failed to either locate or encourage upward investment in his 10 years in charge; c) He showed no ambition to get us promoted in the important first season following relegation; d) He seems to think he can re-invent Football; e) He shows no respect to shareholders (outside of his yes-men who keep him in), players or supporters; f) He will never admit that HE (not 'people') made mistakes; g) He is a leech on the arse of our club. See, nothing to do with his upbringing - doesn't matter what school you go to, if you are simply not a nice person, you'll always be a ***t.
  6. Wasn't that just a typical Saints Season tho? Up and Down??? Would love some Ups right now..trouble is, regardless of Sat's result, we are sliding. One swallow doesn't make a summer...as an old-girlfriend once told me..
  7. Watch the video at the top of the Lowe Interview thread - it states on there that Berkovic was on his way because Souness had gone. Had Souness and Lawrie stayed, who knows. Souness left because of being offered only £2M to improve the squad over a period of years = Lowe's decision. What??? Minimal investment in the squad??? Never... So, indirectly, yes, Lowe did cause Berkovic to leave.
  8. Indeed, nothing like picking one result to slant it to your justification.....LOL How many times did we turn teams like Man U over once Lowe got his mitts on the train set then??
  9. True..but compare the remaining United 10 and compare that with our team that day.. Schmiechel, G Neville, Pallister, May, P Neville, Scholes, Beckham, Butt,Cruyff, Cantona...even though they lost Keane...still 10 better players on paper than our 11 that day. Sad state that we are now more likely to concede 6 rather than score 6.... Interesting that Askham had backed Souness by investing in Lundekvam, Van Gobbel, Berkovic and Ostenstad....
  10. Survived Relegation???? What a novel idea.....
  11. Following the thread about the Lowe interview in 1997, I dug out my copy of the game in 96 (when Souness was boss before Lowe)... Christ we were good. And, that's with a side on paper that you would look at now and think that we were weak in some areas....Berkovic was immense, totally ran the game. Interestingly, he was one of the first to leave after Souness left (thanks Rupert)... Saints Team... Beasant Van Gobbel Lundekvam Dryden Charlton Oakley Berkovic (2) Dodd Neilson Ostenstad (3) Le Tissier (1) Just shows what can be achieved when you let a Manager manage...even with a team that looked weaker than Utd's. YES RUPERT THIS IS HOW LOW YOU HAVE DRAGGED US DOWN.
  12. I felt the biggest comparison between then and now is that.... It was somebody else's fault then and it's somebody else's fault now. Agreed, Askham deserves the biggest amount of stick because, Wilde aside, he was one of the biggest orchestrators of this mess. As was Wiseman et al.
  13. Do you notice though that no-one dares to ask questions like 'Not unlike your use of a PR company' anymore?
  14. Found this on You Tube..after Souness' resignation...4 mins in, interview with Lowe and Harry Gration. Just goes to show, 11 years on, the same rhetoric is being used.... http://uk.truveo.com/Lowe-must-go-Part-2/id/3736034407
  15. I see that Lord Lucan missed that event as well....surely not another prior engagement????!
  16. Tell Rupert that then.
  17. Hmmm...Radio Solent Interview November 2007... 'I have no interest in returning to the club in any capacity' It is surprising that there still some sycophants on here who think he is going to turn this around....
  18. Scoring ANY goals would help....now where did we leave 20 goals a season Stern John and Gregorz Rasiak....ah yes...
  19. Hmmm let's play a guessing game... Jonah = Numerically Astute, Seems to know a lot about Lowe and his intentions..... On a Cluedo assumption, I believe Jonah is Dave Jones sat in Rupert's Office with a PC.
  20. Except if it is true that Crouch offered £2M to repay the ODraft if Lowe and Wilde matched it, why hasn't that happened then?? That makes common sense to help the relationship and buy the club time. Except Lowe and Wilde aren't interested... Surprise Surprise....
  21. Hmmm Burley anyone? Poortvliet? Lowe? Wilde?
  22. Neither was it necessarily Leon Crouch's - doesn't stop many on here blaming him for our demise..even though his plan was probably more realistic than Lowe's. He signed Rasiak though...
  23. Yep, and watch 'falling attendances and lack of support' being some of Rupert's reasons for our voluntary administration...
  24. SB, you are missing the point BIG TIME. It is not about Lowe the person per se, it is his methods and management of this club that is in question. He has not learned anything from the failures of the past, he is blindly following a path which is only going to lead to failure, relegation and administration. The question is this...Why is he here? Someone with 6% shareholding, and other business interests, which quite rightly would probably be more profitable, personally and career wise, it doesn't make sense unless he: a) Is back to gain revenge on those who removed him; b) Is back to show the football establishment that he is a visionary. He hasn't exactly set his stall out on how we are able to progress in the future though has he? Development of the Academy....ahem. Judging by the quality of the current stock he's aiming for the Blue Square Premier....oh and I think that 12,000 you go on about are counted before the game even starts.....nothing like a massaging of the attendances..
  25. Appreciate that FC, but for me it is a double-edged sword, as for many fans. a) Do you still go, week in week out, regardless of performances to support the team and therefore allow Lowe et al claim that the fans approve? b) Make a stand, although you would like to go, in order to show that you do not support the regime.... Tough decision.
