If would be ok if you were allowed to hit them. I think I would have made a great teacher in the 70s.

You're tempted to give him -9, I can tell.

Is the Premiership a reflection of modern society in Britain?
Tokyo-Saint replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Lounge
Been wondering for awhile why more of our players don't play abroad? It seems most of them would rather sit in the reserves than to move to another country. Fair play to Michael Mancienne for bucking the trend. -
MLG loves Mayuka. I am definitely playing him in next year's football manager, he is bound to be massively over rated.

You can say that again.

Speak English. 'British English' brings in millions each year.

This seems realistic and is inline with my experience.

Dam these government cutbacks!

I didn't moan about it, (for the 2nd time) it was in reply to VFTT's comment that the pay package should match that of the private sectors. As the private sector for schools/teachers is not a fair representation of market conditions - there is a half decent free option available so people only pay for the best and therefore pay loads. I took it that the package it should match is for a similarly skilled job in the private sector. I then (admittedly mischievously) pointed out that the holiday allowance is not the same as that of the public sectors (again similar skilled jobs - not necessarily teaching). The facebook update was real, from a teacher in my family and it was the timing of it that was lols. Just as someone is trying to convince me that teachers will spend the summer marking and preparing lessons, on the very next tab, a teacher is rubbing my/others nose in their long holiday. It wasn't really the topic of the thread though, just a reply to one poster. It is like the army argument, people know what they are applying and getting in to, it is their career choice. If they don't like it cause they want more money and are prepared to sacrifice holiday & pension, leave, I did.

Don't take this the wrong way but is she new to the job? I know the paperwork/lesson prep is much harder in the first couple of years and those hours seem to be much more than any of the teachers in my family. Also, does she leave the house at 8 or actually start at 8? If she starts at 8, that is great, shows she is preparing well, I wouldn't say it is anywhere near usual though. It is tougher for teachers with younger students though as I know a lot of secondary teachers do marking/paperwork etc in class - "everyone open the textbook and work through pages 77-79 answering the questions at the end".

Where are our stripes?

lol - perfect timing. My cousin (teacher) just updated her facebook account to say "4 weeks in France don't mind if I do ". She also tagged in her partner who will be going as well and is also a teacher. They must be taking their marking and lesson prep with them. 10 hours days...

I like the people that call you 'pal' charge bear. I live in an area with loads of toffs wandering around and trying to get places in pubs etc. This means I get called 'chap' more than I'd like i.e. "excuse me chap, can I just squeeze through here with my jig of pims?". Do you have a surcharge or punishment for people who use the term 'chap'?

I think your anger is making you a bit dumb here Wade. Firstly, as I said, I was a teacher... There is no envy. The quote you posted was in response to VFTT saying his salary should be brought into line with the private sector. I took this as general jobs in the private sector not just teaching (as I took when I left). I was simply jokingly highlighting that the holidays are a massive perk and help to bring the salary inline with other private sector jobs requiring similar skills qualifications.

That's not what I meant at all. Though, in Japan they don't get all the hols, they still have to go to work each day even with no kids. As we both know, after a bit of experience, lesson prep and all those other things are done in a day or so. After that the teacher just sit in their classrooms, reading, doing yoga all sorts. It is really strange but culturally, they just can take all those long holidays, they'd feel guilty.
-
Yep, that one may work on the unaware but coming from a family full of teachers (5 current), having been a teacher myself and now running a business, it doesn't work on me. You get a lot of holiday, it is considered a perk of the job, I'm not complaining, just highlighting that you can't compare one thing that is different from the private sector and skip over another that is a perk.

Killer! Yeah I did think that when I saw the advert bout people having mc ds breakfast at like 6am while telling people they are going to be a dad or whatever. Some poor bear has to be there even earlier to make fast food breakfasts for the nutritionally defunked.

Maybe Jesus had clear flooring?

I'm getting worried about you bear - 5:30 am! Is your new job a milkman? Or is 24 hr posting all part of the MLG persona?
-
He is on another type of register, trust me. Don't worry mods, this isn't breaking any rules, it is public knowledge and the judges decision was published in the echo.

Enjoy your 6 week holiday must be at least 8 weeks since half term.

Me and my black friends say brothers all the time. They also say honkies sometimes though.... I think they might be racially hating on me. -
I know it is stopping in 2015 but £200m to India is just mental. They are a booming economy with a space and nuclear program ffs!
