Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

Which wouldn't be so bad. I still think 6 million would be too much for someone that is still mostly potential. I really want a CB though... -
The supporters desperate for power wouldn't like that!

Pleasing that we may get a transfer in but that is a ridiculous amount of money for Philips IMO. -
Exactly. Common sense at last.
-
Unless we sign a couple before Sunday then Adkins would disagree with you. Even three weeks ago he was disappointed that more had not been brought in.
-
How is this summer relevant to our position two years ago? I still don't understand that mentality.
-
Whilst I do agree with you, I am confused by your stance on this. You said yourself that you are surprised by our lack of transfer dealings recently and that this window has been a wake up call. Do you not feel slightly negative feelings yourself? Not that I'm defending Alpine or anything.
-
I'm not sure what 3 years ago has to do with this summers transfer dealings.
-
Quite possible that the team could surprise us and do well. That's what it would be though with unproven players and it would surprise all the pundits and bookies as well.
-
I have to admit I have been surprised. I was very optimistic after the signing of Jay Rod and Davis. Clyne too I felt was a decent addition. Seeing some of our rivals strengthening though whilst we still have glaring holes in our team has turned me back into being a pessimist sadly. I think that even with a few additions before the end of the window, we may struggle this season and could well get relegated which would be a damn shame considering how hard we have worked to get back .

True. Also the fact that we went and colonised their land so they wouldn't actually exist without the English...

Probably the most likely scenario. I just want us to make some signings now. -

According to people on here, we would lose to city anyway so it doesn't matter who we have signed or how we play against City... -

But also promoted clubs are very different cases to clubs who stayed up last year. -

That the main concern for many clubs is keeping hold of who they have. We need to strengthen as we have just been promoted. We've been through this... -
You also don't hear about the elitest side of things and how misogynistic many of the members are. Went to a funeral for a mason and back at the lodge the normal guests were put in a tiny room with no bar whilst the masons drank and had a buffet. They may not be mysterious but my experience is they are a bunch of d#ckheads largely. Known another one who is also an utter kn*b I reckon most join so they can feel powerful.

Hoe about buying some premier ship experience or some established proven quality rather than just potential in order to establish ourselves in this league.
-
Which is why Newcastle were favourites last year...

Masonic Lodge in Eastleigh has some weird goings on.

That's ridiculous. There is no reason to think that. I do think we will be unprepared for the opening games though due to our slow activity in the last three weeks. -
They aren't the bad guys here. They are dong their jobs and being paid accordingly.

I will be happy if/when we get transfers in before the deadline but I will be disappointed if we lose heavily or for example fail to beat Wigan when I feel we could have done more in terms of bringing in players earlier and thus being more prepared for the start of the season. We should have got a CB in IMO and not doing so before now could well cost us. What if we don't get someone in before Sunday? What if Fonte or Jos get injured five minutes into the game? -
But I would imagine entirely reasonable in comparison to their competitors? Do businesses typically stay in admin so long?
-
All that means is that prices have risen for the more quality players, not that there was a time when paying a lot for player guaranteed quality and now that is not the case. Of course prices rise, that has always been the case in football. There are always exceptions (like Torres who may still come good and Carrol) but generally if you pay a lot and have done proper scouting then you are much more likely to get quality. Of course this is qualified by the fact that an English player always costs a hell of a lot more.
-
Did it ever guarantee quality?
