Why not just release a statement saying "reports in the press are inaccurate- we have not signed Ward."

I reckon it's more about satisfaction. It must be a very rewarding venture.

But if he does sign, it was a bit pointless to say that Sky got it VERY wrong. They just got the timing wrong. Very wrong suggests that we haven't been close to signing him at all. If we don't sign him then fair enough. It seems clear to me that he was the player that Pardew spoke about on the radio on Saturday.
