No I think he had what amounted to a preseason and prior to that game we had regressed and got significantly worse. What fans want is effort and signs that we are getting somewhere. We had that on Monday but before that we had neither. Perfectly acceptable to react negatively to that, particularly considering who Jones is and his track record outside of Luton.
-
I can't stand fans who consider themselves morally superior in their own minds. I would love absolutely nothing more than Jones to take his abrasive and slightly hostile personality and win every game between now and the end of the season, shouting volleys of abuse at the fans the entire time. We were superb at Man City and it gives him some time now and a bit of breathing space but the Forest game will live long in the memory for many as the worst performance from a saints team in decades. Just because he performed really well on Monday does not suddenly erase that or mean that fans were wrong. It's his job now to get the points required and get everyone on side. Had he shown prior to Monday even small signs of improvement then he would have had a lot more support and leeway.

I have no issue with the questions in the press conference. I also think that Jones come sout of that quite well to be honest.

And just likes Jones I'll continue to win and shove it in your face. -

I still think Jones is a bit of a prick but absolutely fair play. Keep winning and shoving it in everyone's faces and we will all be happy. Needs to get some form in the league though or this is a bit pointless. -
His top flight playing career went as well as Nathan Jones' top flight managerial career so far...
-
Still no striker then. Doesn't look like we will have one in place to play in our must win game against Everton.
-
I'm really surprised they haven't appointed some sort of vocal fan liaison officer. I get that fans aren't really important, but you would think they would at least attempt to placate fans a bit because it can only be positive for them.
-
I sure they're in the process of hunting for the Turkish Nathan Jones to keep the teams consistent!
-
Instinctively I was a bit worried about this but it could actually be good news as long as we stay as the top club.
-
I'll see if I can find anything out. The two people who told me before have left the club though now so no promises!
-
I think the way to defend himself is to get results. He can stick two fingers up to the fans everyweel for all I care if he gets us up the table. With zero points from his games so far it isn't really the time to pick fights with fans who have every right to feel aggrieved and to question his appointment. Prove us all wrong by performing on the pitch and then he can give it large.
-
Any idea what he's like? I haven't bothered to check until he's actually looking like signing.
-
Just seen some more quotes from him. Slagging off the fans and saying our defence is much better (lies.) What a prick.
-
In what way is it a myth? They might not be implementing what he asked them to do but it's quite clearly not a myth just based on the stats alone.
-
Indeed. As arguably our best player and someone with actual experience of playing in a top team, he probably feels more than most what a complete shitshow it is at present. Losing him in January will undoubtedly weaken us however so I'd prefer to let him go in the summer. Maybe the calculation is we would get a fair wedge for him now which we wouldn't get if we got relegated so I can see the logic.
-
He's probably not undervalued enough for Wankerson.
-
Potter has to be sacked soon surely. If he is then I couldn't see a better fit for him than Saints.
-
Yep I personally we put a load of eggs on Gakpo towards the end of the window and we had nothing else when he turned us down.
-
Of course they do and I'm not for a minute saying our problems would have been solved at all. I'm just saying that so many of our games this year have been lost by the odd goal and imo if we had someone who could finish we would probably have something like six more points. Not enough to be happy with the telly but enough for Ralph to still be here.
-
Personally I think if we had got a decent striker in the summer then Ralph would still be in charge and we wouldn't be in the relegation zone.
-
Think we can all agree with that! If we do go down this year it will be as much to do with getting this latest wrong as it is keeping Ralph too long.
-
Not really any difference to saints. I don't care what the manager does if it gets us results. Whatever he did worked.
-
No one wants Hughes in charge now. Doesn't change the fact that he did a good job at the time.
-
Absolutely. No shots on target and the manner of the defeat against Forest at home is absolutely one of the reasons people want him gone now.
