Nick Illingsworth is quoted on vital football as saying about Adkins - 'Another drawback is at S****horpe he is used to working with young players, whereas at Southampton, we don't have young players.' 'Our squad is full of seasoned professionals who we've spent a lot of money on to get the best players in the division.' I reckon our first team is still pretty young - first choice 1o outfield players- RB 27 CB 26 CB 20 LB 26 or 23 RM 24 CM 20 CM 27 LM 22 CF 28 CF 27 two most used suns 16 and 20. Surely thats a young side? not a personal issue with Nick just seeing his comment made me check ages as thought most players are hopefully not at their peak yet.

and also keep wondering if there is a clue in here: Les Reed, apparently choosing manager says I have also mentored some high profile names in coaching including Alan Curbishley, Peter Taylor, Stuart Pearce, Gianluca Vialli, Sammy Lee, and Mark Hughes. I was the original designer of the current UEFA pro Licence I have trained and qualified a number of the game’s current managers and coaches at that level including the likes of; George Burley, Mick McCarthy, Alan Pardew, David O’Leary, Gary Mc Callister, Steve Bruce, Gary Megson, and have tutored a group which included, Steve McClaren, Peter Reid, Iain Dowie, Phil Brown, Gordon Strachan, Dario Gradi and many other current managers and coaches. I have conducted countless coaching courses at National and International level at home and abroad, qualifying and influencing over 2000 coaches world-wide from novice to International standard.

only thing I have learnt is that we are going to have a very big management team!
-
so over a week on and still no-one has a clue what is going to happen, who is being considered or when an appointment will be made.. ,, but we still keep looking! Makes it interesting that our club don't leak any info any more.
-
are you still confident in what you are hearing after Hoew denying it?
-
new manager....not heard anything about that on here!
-
very likely

Rightly or wrongly Pardew's relationship with Cortese went bad - therefore he could no longer be a good manager for us as Cortese is staying. An important quality in our new manager is the respect / trust of Cortese -that is why a "lesser" manager maybe a better appointment

Solent - any approach from Southampton? Howe - no.
-
so in summary, Cortesse has used a phone recently but it was nothing to do with a new manager!
-
yep. But think it was true - don't think any of his rumours since have been.
