To be honest I thought we managed to make the run-in last season pretty painful. Every time I thought we'd put it to bed we'd fail to get the win. Then West Ham got that freak 6-0 win at Brighton and our GD advantage got slashed and i really began to worry. Don't forget we still needed to win our final game to guarantee promotion. Luckily I think that if we get to a similar point this season the players should be able to draw on that experience to get the win against Stoke.

I think by the time we play Sunderland they could be on 38. Two tough but eminently winnable fixtures. If people thought we'd beat West Brom and Swansea there's no reason Wigan can't.

I think we'll be safe but unfortunately I think at this time of the season it's as much about what's going on in the head as how good the team is. Lose next weekend, Villa win or draw, and Wigan win their next two (inc. game in hand), none of which is beyond the realms of possibility, and things will get very squeaky bum. We'll be looking over our shoulders and make no mistake this could have a negative effect on our last two matches.

This is all just foreplay, right?

Don't worry lads, I've worked out what the problem is. It's the Mulletsaint curse of the fantasy league team. Our form has dipped since I put JRod in my team. My proof came tonight as newly signed Sessegnon is on the end of a tonking and then gets himself sent off. I'll make sure I get a few Wigan players in before the weekend.

I think we'll be safe, especially as the teams below and around us will take points off each other. The big problem for me is the tough nature of next week's fixture. Lose that and we could be dragged into it. Nerves play a big part in a teams performance and the closer we get the more problems we could cause for ourselves. However we should be able to pick up two or three points from the next three matches.

Too easy to see demons when there probably aren't any. We've been in good form with Jos in the side, so I'd imagine that recently it's more about not wanting to throw someone who's yet to play in our back four and tempt fate. Defences are as much about partnerships and throwing Forren in would almost be starting again. Maybe if we find ourselves four up at some point in the next three games he might get a run out. If not I think he'll only get game time at LB or if someone else gets injured. I'd imagine Fonte would get called up first.

My worry is that he'd end up in the broom cupboard

Have you looked at who everyone else has to play? I'm not saying we're safe but so many of the teams around us have to play each other, as well as us having Stoke and Sunderland. Just say we don't get another point. If Wigan beat Villa, Villa would have to win two of their other three matches (Sunderland H, Norwich A, Chelsea H) to go above us. Not beyond the realms possibility but in that case they'd take three points off two other teams below us. If Villa win that match Wigan would have to win two and at least draw the other of theirs (West Brom A, Swansea H, Arsenal A). Unless they won all three they'd be relying on GD. Like I say, not safe but illustrates that things would have to go pretty tits up for us to get relegated. My biggest fear is that we are over-reliant on certain players. You have to wonder whether this virus has had an effect on our ability to follow MP's game plan sufficiently well. -

Not saying you were, think there were one or two (Alps perhaps) who were getting a little bit ahead of theirselves on the match day thread. -

You can be a realist without being an idiot, however you can also be right and act like a t/w/a/t.

Exactly this. If someone doesn't conform to your exact mindset label them something derogatory. What fun.
