  1. Fergie reckons the way we played in the second half was the best a team has played at OT this season. Pity we couldn't make it pay. Big match this weekend. COYS! Edit: soz beaten to it.
  2. Certainly ain't for your sparkling repartee. I'm not particularly fond of the term mong board but this place is certainly living up to it tonight.
  3. Apologies if already mentioned but Sky are reporting Reading have now bid for Ince.
  4. Yup I believe he said he didn't even know him, not that he didn't know who he is.
  5. Can't fault your musical taste but I think The Skids is perfect.
  6. Anyway here's proof I can also act like an idiot. Not quite a precious about it tho Turks.
  7. I don't think so. You're smug and pompous, and so's your attitude. It's it's BTW.
  8. Your smug, pompous attitude is part of the problem not part of the cure.
  9. No, you're an idiot because you persist in acting like one. Re-read my post.
  10. Really? You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that being correct protects you from coming across as an idiot. Get your head out of your arse for a minute and you might hear some of us a little better. Most of what came out initially was that he could not speak English. I cannot remember the 'source's opinion coming out until a little later. Anyway it is pretty obvious, especially if anyone has watched last night's Revista that he has a good understanding of the language and that he speaks enough to get his thoughts across to the players. Time to draw a blue line under it I think.
  11. Get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning? When the news first broke about our new manager, it was reported in several newspapers, on Sky Sports News and the BBC that he couldn't speak English. I'm currently lacking in work so I do not lack time to take in all of this crap. Obviously the English media did their usual stirring and many of us, not knowing the bloke, went along with it. I think most of us realise you can't always trust the media but on the other hand sometimes we just take their word for it.
  12. To be honest I don't think Nigel should rush into anything. Wait until the end of the season and see the lye of the land. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a job at a club in the prem rather than one lower down.
  13. It's this attitude that gets you the responses you receive and less what it is that you have to say. It's hardly like this place is devoid of those wishing to believe the worst all the time is it? Personally I can't remember your post regarding this during the summer, maybe because I don't tend to spend quite as much time on here as some people. I'll take your word for it though as it'll be retrievable by someone anal enough to bother. When a lot of these Cortese rumours began circulating my take on it was that without proof I was willing to give the bloke the benefit of the doubt based on what he has done for the club. His actions this week prove what a hard nosed bastard he is but this sort of treatment is unacceptable and I wouldn't be surprised if players' nervousness about their position lead to some of the mistakes at the beginning of the season. He's obviously bloody ambitious and doing things to push the club forward. However if he keeps shafting people, eventually the lack of trust it engenders will prevent those goals from being realised. Look at Abramovic. His trigger happy nature is probably responsible for Chelsea missing out on the coach he's been craving all along.
  14. I don't think there's likely to be a revolt as such but you have to worry as to whether NA's selection of new signings was in some way a nail in his coffin. If, as some posters have suggested, Cortese has a plan of who he wants to play, then some iconic players such as SRL could find themselves on the bench more often than not and that could seriously effect the dressing room and give more fuel to the ire that many fans already feel. While NA often played players out of position or left them on the bench at odd times I believe you can see that he was trying to react to different challenges and opposition. We don't want Mauricio forced into playing the same team no matter what.
  15. Yet again everything is always so black and white isn't it? Sorry VFTT I'm not just picking on you but this seemed as good a post to quote as any. I agree, it's about more than just the sacking of NA. It's about how the club treats its staff and players. People keep saying there's no room for sentiment in football anymore. That's utter rubbish. The fans are the people that matter. Football is a passion. Support for a club is, in most cases, an intrinsic part of our being. If a club f*cks over the fans or players and coaches to which we have an emotional attachment, it hurts. Clubs where this has become the norm become evil places to work and eventually, no matter what success is b®ought there becomes a time when everyone's had enough. Witness the scenes at Stamford Bridge. Having said all that there is some wisdom in what DBS says. I've had a few run-ins with him in the past but that doesn't mean I can't see if he makes a reasonable point. I think vitriol aimed at anyone directly before kick-off, during the game and at the final whistle could have a negative effect on the players and thus our season. With the fixtures we've got coming up we could easily slide back into the bottom three. With Adkins the fans would probably have stayed on-side, however things could get rapidly out of hand given what has just happened. An organised protest outside the ground, banners and chanting of NA's name would be more in the spirit of the man himself and less likely to effect the atmosphere in a negative way. Let's face it, as others have said Cortese won't give a flying f*ck so I'd rather any protests were aimed at showing our support for Nigel, a man that himself was always upbeat and positive no matter what.
  16. I'm really upset not just at the sacking of Nigel but also at the way it seems the club went about things. However any spite aimed at the new manager in the ground on Monday is unfounded and could prove incredibly counter productive. You only have to see what the atmosphere is like at Stamford Bridge at the moment to realise that something similar at St. Mary's could spell disaster. By all means sing Nigel's name but getting on the new man's back, especially because of his nationality, is no less shameful than what NA has been put through. I wish Mauricio all the luck in the world, he really is going to need it. The wisdom of the timing of this decision is flawed if nothing else. Installing a manager who can't speak the language most of the squad do half way through the season seems pure lunacy. Even more bloody stupid is looking at it in context of results and the fixture list. Mauricio's on a hiding to nothing. Coming off the back of our current run he is now about to face Everton, Man U and Man City in the next few games. If we lose that lot, which is not inconceivable, the atmosphere at games could be evil. If Cortese was going to put him in why not do it after the bad run we had earlier this season with some winnable fixtures for him to ease in with? It beggars belief. We really do need to stick behind the team and support the new manager whatever we think.
  17. Absolutely feckin stupid. We had momentum but I feel a slide into oblivion awaits.
  18. Obviously my use of the term 'knob-end' was deemed offensive? Judging by the terms used above I imagine if I'd spelled it kn*b-end I'd have got away with it? Anyway my point is we all have opinions, just no need to be such a tw*t about it.
  19. Great result tonight. Really didn't expect it at half time. I didn't watch the match but am currently watching the extended highlights on Sky. Gotta say if Guly had a bad match then they've cut the poor bits out. I should also mention that it's a great bit of ball retention under pressure that allows him to start the move that led to the first goal. Finally, supposition on what might have happened if we'd started with a different team is pointless. Who knows what the outcome would've been? It's easy to justify your point either way to be brutally honest. I know it's part of the fun of being a football fan it's just that some people do manage to suck all of the fun out of it.
  20. Sky Sports saying QPR are keeping tabs on the Forren situation and may step in.
  21. Adidas really do make some minging kits.
  22. This sort of thing happens all the time. One academy sees something in a player another doesn't. Beckham couldn't get beyond Spurs' centre of excellence but Man U snapped him up.
  23. Ouch! Tee hee.
  24. Same site I used but did it for extra game as most teams this season are a game ahead of us.
  25. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong site but after 21 games that season we had 14 points, were 2nd bottom, had -15 GD and there was seven points between us and 15th place. This season we have played a game less, are two positions higher up the table, are four points better off, four GD better off and there is six points between us and 13th. If true, hardly a worse position. This is a much weaker prem than back then. However we really do need to strengthen at the back ASAP but with the right players. That could take time.
