  1. And there was me thinking you had finally quit. Does it really matter if the 1st one wins as you know one horse somewhere will let you down !
  2. Today's oddsnsods market movers : Frognal- Catterick 15.50 10/1 into 7/2 Rough Rock- Yarmouth 16.00 10/1 into 7/1 Snow Bear- Catterick 14.20 8/1 into 5/1 ( Timeform- "Stable can ready a newcomer and any market support should be noted.")
  3. Several more at decent prices, I'll try to get some analysis posted but for now: Yarmouth 4.30 -Astraleo - @ 7/1 (General) City Stable returns to the trip over which he gained his sole win but he doesn't always look the easiest of rides. Second favourite, If I Had Him, will have no problems seeing out the trip but whether he can do it fast enough is another matter. From a mark of 46 Astroleo should get involved over a distance he stays well. He ran respectably on his reappearance over two miles at this track and he should come on for that outing today. He was a winner on the fibresand at Southwell last season from a three pound higher mark and he could be the type to catch earlier in a campaign. The yard are in decent order and the selection has the assistance of a very competent five pound claimer. The Trainer shows a very healthy profit from just an 11% strike rate at this track showing that a price is no barrier to his horses chance of winning. 5.00 - Tivers Song e/w @ 25/1 (General) I'm loathe to desert Iceman George who did me a favour last time out but, although he is still a maiden after 21 races, the 25/1 on offer in places for Tivers Song looks too big. He ran better than his final finishing position suggests on his return over today's trip at Nottingham earlier this month and finished in the frame in six of his eleven outings last year after returning from a 16 month absence. The absence of a win from his portfolio is slightly off-putting but he doesn't perform like a horse who is ungenuine in any way and the booking of a decent jockey is encouraging. The selection went close from around today's mark over ten furlongs on a number of occasions last season and he seems well suited by genuine fast ground. Haydock 6.30 - Stage Acclaim @ 5/1 (General) Jockeyship could have a say in the outcome of this and Stage Acclaim hasn't any worries on that score. The selection has been in very good form in the past few months over hurdles and returns to the level on a very tempting mark of 58. He is unexposed over today's trip having raced only four times at ten furlongs in the past. That was two seasons ago and his profile in 19 races over hurdles since suggests he is now a much stronger horse who will have no problems stepping up to 12 furlongs. His debut win for his current stable last time suggests that he has taken the change os scenery positively and his new handler is adept at getting his horses to win under both codes. They send just the one to this meeting. Towcester 8.20 - River Indus @ 5/1 (Ladbrokes) Very consistent in recent months and always seems to give his supporters a good run for their money. It is true to say his strike rate is not great but if at his best he is sure to be battling up the steep Towcester hill at the business end of the race.
  4. Yep, I'll go with that one, damned annoying.
  5. Cheapskates
  6. The fact the above comes as no surprise.
  7. Hopefully Lumb and Carberry back ? Kabir Ali must still be doubtful.
  8. Dire day though I wonder if I was the only one who thought Webbow once again was given little chance by the jockey ?
  9. I'm glad you included the word almost !!
  10. He might..........if he took lessons from you !
  11. About time we won a close game, I was hopeful McKenzie's 55 in the 1st innings might have been just what he needed and save his maiden ton for us in the 2nd innings To be fair from what I have heard he has certainly put in plenty of practice. Nice win, our season starts now! Oh and maybe we signed Herath as an all rounder !
  12. Nothing outstanding I can see for Friday as yet. Those of interest to me if I can get the right price: Chepstow 4.10 Mabuya : Consistent horse, a tad unlucky to be beaten last time out. Current best price is 7/4 which is probably about right 4.40 Lowdown @7/2 ( General) : This looks to be between the front 2 in the market with Felsham too short I reckon at around 6/4. Lowdown did not seem to handle the track at Chester last time out but wouldn't have been the first. With Dettori on board this Mark Johnston trained horse I'm expecting at the very least he'll give Felsham plenty to do and is definitely the value for me. Mick Channon runs Hairspray but unless she produces a lot more than previously shown hard to see her getting involved. Haydock 7.30 Red Gulch @7/4 ( General): A tricky race but Red Gulch looks the likeliest winner. Early morning market suggested a price of around 11/8 but 7/4 now freely available which does seem more realistic. 8.00 : Secretive: Another Mark Johnston runner, rarely found wanting for lack of effort. Currently 6/4 generally, at that price I'll not get overly involved 8.30 : Gritstone @9/4 : Looks another race between the front two in the market, Tuscan Gold vying with Gritstone for favouritism. Just going to plump for Gritstone who is very consistent and should enjoy the conditions. Another Magic Man would need to find something extra to take this but 10/1 at Ladbrokes is not a bad price. Good luck, Chris
  13. Slight exaggeration I suspect but probably the goal I'm thinking of as that I'm pretty sure was an equaliser ( 2-2 maybe) and then we won 4-2 aet ? If it had been 40 years ago I would have no trouble remembering !
  14. No, don't remember the pitch invasion. Horne was with us from about 1989 to 1992, maybe it was shock that he actually scored a goal ! No, unfair as he scored a few including one screamer in a cup match ( v Oldham ?) .
