Who is to blame for the Summer of inactivity?
Glasgow_Saint replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Understand the domino affect you talk of and im hoping the transfer of Roberto Soldado may kick start some movement. The worry is that by signing someone so late we could have another Ramirez issue and the player may need a long time to adjust? -

I was hoping for the same mate. Back in July i predicted 7th, but that was on the assumption that we would sign 2-3 more. Now im not sure if we will finish top 10. The point is I think we are close.... Very close and thats the frustrating thing. I think our first 11 is strong, but i think that we need more depth, especially as MoPo plays such an intense and exhausting style. To judge the success of the summers activity / inactivity you must also consider the posters expectations, hopes ect ect I had dreams of us finishing top 7, but with the signings made thus far we wont (imo) -

Where in the league do you think the current squad will finish next season? -

So you dont think Nicola's public hissy fit had any impact on the players? You dont need to be ITK to read the quotes from Morgan "every player would have to consider their future" -

So there wasnt unrest when NC and MoPo threatened to quit unless the owners gave them millions???? Ok then  -

This was my concern. none of his past players want to link up with him again..... Why? Add this to the rumour about player unrest at SFC towards the end of season + the alarming change in team/player form (last 6 games) and things start to unravel. Or is it me doing 2+2 and getting 5? -

For me the clappers suffer from dellsize mentality and don't share the sames ambitions as me, you, NC and MoPo. In my life and I'm sure yours - 2nd best is not an option -
Early July and 90% predicted a top 10 finish Now - 90% predict we will finsih below the top 10.

It was NC and MoPo that started talking about top 4 + ambitions....................not the fans!! they have essentially talked the talk, but failed to walk the walk. -
Maybe a option where you can like a post or faceplam a post Lol

Has anyone changed their mind? Most who voted have gone for top 10......................

Signing players last minute is not the way to do things and its lazy and naive to say otherwise........ look at Ramirez last year. Signed him late and then needed to give him a full season to settle in. Think you are simply underestimating the power of pre-season, player bonding, SFC fitness ect ect. -

A word being used commonly to describe the SFC committee is "Pulling Power" or lack of it. NC was backed but has failed to deliver - perhaps it's simply Southampton, perhaps its MoPo, perhaps its money - who knows. The point is NC targeted upwards of 14 players this summer and has so far only convinced 2 to join us. -

Lallana is a worry - for me MoPo perhaps doesnt know how to use him effectively. Same with JRod and Ramirez - all 3 seemed to be improving under NA but seem to go backwards under MoPo. Think the biggest issue last season was the change in style and tempo - someone compared it to an 800 metre runner suddenly being told to run marathons. with no training it was never going to end well and the team was exhausted with 7-8 games to go. Thankfully we just limped over the line. Mayuka similar to Guly offer absolutely nothing to the team - both should have been moved on this summer. Problem is - who would want them? They are probably on big £'s and lower league clubs wont pay big wages for poor players -
For some "not ITK" I have got an incredible amount spot on this summer

While we continue to rely on Guly, Jos, Fox, Davis/Gazza, Fonte and untried youth players we will not be playing in Europe. -

We started last season badly, we finished last season badly. Some bits in between were ok. Cant see a massive improvement unless we sign 2-3 more decent players v.quickly which now seems unlikely. Would like to have seen a little less talk (this summer) from NC and MoPo and a lot more action in the transfer market. A good season for us will be 8-12th anything lower and MoPo might go. Anything higher and I will be surprised and delighted -
Thank you x Thank you x Thank you x Thank you x

Think we'd be best cashing in while he still has some resale value. Not a prem striker imho
