I wonder why we didn’t schedule our Hull City rearranged fixture for this midweek like others are doing. Leeds even brought theirs forward.

It does make sense from a Bournemouth perspective, outside of their noddy fans fake rivalry bullshit. Brooks won’t get back to where he was without playing regularly and they have players currently ahead of him. He can stay living in his home and get lots of minutes playing for a team on fire. Normally we wouldn’t be keen to develop another team’s player, especially a team that would be a relegation rival if we do go up. Needs must on this occasion, we would be stupid to not get a player of his quality in to help us with our promotion push. Hope he smashes it and we have the ‘never fall in love with a loan player’ issue.

https://youtu.be/Lxusx6eAu_g?si=DJGewBOACD-bJ9ST In depth interview with Brooks 9 months ago on his return. Interesting insight into his journey. Seems a humble and somewhat introverted person who just wants to get back to where he was. I think coming to play in our team right now is a great place for him to do that. If he ends up back at Bournemouth after helping us achieve our goals then fair enough, but the idea of him getting back to full fitness and coming to Saints permanently sounds good to me.

Will be delighted if this deal goes through, crazy how our winger options are better in the championship than last season in the PL. Shame there’s no option, same as with Downes/Fraser. On promotion I’m hopeful we could still do a deal for all three.

Revenge for that smash and grab at St Mary’s please. Don’t think I’ve ever seen us dominate a game so much and not win. Still annoys me now. Go full throttle like we did in the first 45 vs Swansea and they won’t be able to live with us. 0-4, 23 unbeaten.

I could see us not getting a RW if we can’t assure them that they will be starting. Likely the same reason we didn’t get Carvalho for his position. I’d rather sit on a PL bench than a champ one. If we had a chance to get Brooks though, you’d have to start him. I could see Arma ending up at CF then but not sure how well that would work. He does work hard off the ball and leads the press but zero hold up/aerial threat. Best finisher at the club, top scorer and assister. Has to play, is moving him central self harming?

Wonder why Russ isn’t taking the presser?
-
Surely he has more chance of getting minutes at Saints than Brighton. That is just a token comment, he’s jumping to a better option (for now). It’s a shame we can’t build our team around the best youngsters we produce, it’s near impossible to keep them!

Looks sold out now 👏

Looks like Watford are resigning Dennis, wonder if he will be available for the weekend?

Non-penalty expected goals 🤓

MLG would approve! 😂

I’d keep, 5 goals in his last 6 - we can’t sign a player capable of that for £6m unless we get lucky. Recent transfer windows suggest we aren’t on a lucky streak for CF options. Perhaps if we do make it up he might sign a new contract. If the numbers were right for us he would be worth keeping on as a squad player for the PL. Otherwise we all move on, which seems the most likely outcome this summer really.
-
Last thing we want is a replay, but with some expected rotation a draw wouldn’t be a surprise.
-
10 days to go and it’s gone a bit quiet. I’d be happy if nothing changed from here but a new exciting RW option would be a nice bonus. Preferably we don’t see a key target go to a rival and that turn out to be a key signing for them, looking at you Dirty Leeds.
-
I think that is the point, we are doing far better than last time but it still might not be good enough. Shows how much harder promotion is for us this time around and a bit of fun to just see how we compare against last time out for Saints, a side often labelled as stronger than our current one in various forum topics/discussions.
-
58 points from 28 league games so far. Just had another look to see how that compares with last season and our last promotion season in the championship. 7 ahead of our last successful promotion and 4 behind ‘Mission Burnley’. If Leicester win tonight they will be on 68 points which is quite ridiculous.
-
Eurgh, with 3 mins to go of added time you start to think a decent result might be coming. Leeds are going to be like WHU were last time we were down here. Pushing us right to the end.
-
It’s no slight against Saints to say there is no chance we are catching Leicester this season, they have been on a run as good as our current run for the entire season. I personally don’t think we can do it, even if we carry on our current PPG from this run. I’m usually on the optimistic side of things too.
-
Our momentum over this 20 game run has been just 1 point better than Leicester. To catch them we are going to have to do even better, is that really possible?
-
Another way to be like Manchester City! I’d take their kit from this season in red and white stripes tbf.
-
Our points per game in our record breaking unbeaten run is 2.4ppg, Leicester’s all season is 2.4ppg. With this in mind, I find it hard to back an Ipswich win, based on our form being good enough to catch Leicester. Nothing suggests so far that they can be caught. More likely they break the record points total. An Ipswich defeat seems to be the result that will benefit us the most.
