Damion Downs - Official: Loaned to Hamburg

29 apps last season in Bundesliga 2 but only played 1,801 mins total so 20 full games of mins. In those appearances he scored 10 goals and got 5 assists. That’s a goal every 2 games and an assist every 4. Remains to be seen what he can do at championship level and if he can translate that ratio over a season but I do think this guy has the potential to score goals. Looks like his link play is decent, which will help Archer/Armstrong. Eni Aluko informs me that’s actually a goal a game when you think about it, so he should fire us to promotion no problem. -
Looks like the numbers on the back will be red, which will balance out the white back a bit. Still feel the stripes should be on the sides and back but here we are.

Shorter vid showing all his goal contributions for those that haven’t seen them all before. -

If this is correct (2.7k followers posting FC Koln news), the initial fee is pretty low, £5m upfront and £1.8m add ons. -

Yep, think he is the most recent. -
Looks like Downs fee agreed now at €8m. If we are 2 up top then I’d like to keep all 4. Downs and Stewart vying for one spot, Archer and Armstrong for the other. Not sure if Archer or Armstrong would accept being on the bench though. I think we will put our trust in Archer and Armstrong might push for a move. I’d prefer our default to be 4-2-3-1 but not sure that gives room for either Archer or Armstrong. We have proven players at this level but what formation are we going to be playing?

Derby have also signed Carlton Morris from Luton, who is probably expecting to be their main striker. Perhaps they are going 2 up top, not too sure on Eustace formation at Derby.

Ipswich forum speculating that Downes has been to their training ground this week. He’s been involved in our preseason training in London so most likely rubbish, but he did nearly sign for them when he joined us and he wanted to go there in January. I thought this was an interesting tweet from the club on Tuesday, certainly gives the impression that they are both key players for us next season.

That’s a scary story, thankfully you decided to stop and noticed it!

My membership is showing 5% discount at checkout so pretty ridiculous if STHs aren’t getting any discount.

I just think it is respectful to spell his name right. I do apologise if it came across as insensitive, perhaps I could have gone about requesting that better, so I’ll take that on board.

I had already posted my response to this tragic news in one of the other threads before you even made this thread, so don’t try and paint me as something I am not. The thread title was originally ‘Diego’, I thought it is only respectful to spell his name right, that is all.

Can we at least spell the guys name right in the thread title?

I like that side of the coin! -
Jota only just got married on 22/6, leaves behind his wife and 3 kids. 28yo in the prime of his career. Absolutely tragic news, life is so fragile.

Not really ideal that USA are going all the way to the end of this tournament, will limit Downs pre season a bit. -
This is all true, but they still have a very strong squad for this level, Rohl looks likely to be their next manager and until they are deducted points, they will be challenging. Even if deduced 12 points as rumoured, I think they will still make the playoffs. Hopefully all this uncertainty around them affects their start as that helps us. Also think Sheffield United sacking Wilder for Selles and losing Souza, likely also Hamer, could be helpful.
