  1. From what I've seen of Dickson he has been a bit hit and miss, he looked pretty good when he came on with Holmes as a sub but I remember not being overly impressed by him against plymouth . I said when we signed him I thought there where other areas that the team needed strengthening more than LB. For me Harding is a great LB and Mills did well when called on last season. He could play LM but he is never going to replace a fit Lallana. Still as it seems every PL club is going to buy Adam in January according to the press maybe Dickson will get his chance in the second half of the season.
  2. I just think Wilkins was out of his depth and that probably transfered to the players they weren't confident in his ability to do the job, they weren't sure what he wanted from them or when a new manager would come in. Once Nigel came in with a clear game plan and showing confidence that transfered to the players. The players are now getting used to what is wanted of them and their confidence levels are returnning.
  3. Exactly no point worrying about it until something concrete comes up, how many rumours in the papers about players we are supposedly going to sign actually come true anyway?
  4. Blimey you do like telling poeople what to do don't you?
  5. Surely a big part of a football club is it's history? It's going to be hard to discuss nexts saturdays game on sunday if we are only allowed to discuss the future.
  6. Wow westie you really are a top class internet warrior. Just for your sake I've now added a disclaimer to my location so hopefully when ever I post you'll know it's just my opinion and you won't burst a blood vessel.
  7. Surely all those things ring true for Nigel too? with the possible exception of number three although Nigel has championship experience. It's not much of an arguement to say look at all the advantages Alan had when Nigel has all the same advantages.
  8. He lost seven games all of last season and two this season (all competitions) how is that losing too many games. If you said drew you might have a point.
  9. well said
  10. Ok dokey Wes you put the disclaimer after every post of yours and I'll follow suit........... I'll re phrase for you after AP left we lost three league matches in a row that is a fact.
  11. AP was more than capable of getting us promoted he proved that last year, Nigel would seem to be capable too. The difference is as far as I can tell Nigel gets on with NC Alan didn't. NC really should have made the change during the summer though and if not should have backed AP to the hilt this season. I wanted AP as our manager but if NC didn't he should have sorted it out last pre-season. The fanning around with managers at the start of the season has cost us a lot of points which may come back to bite us at the end of the season.
  12. How often has Jonjo Shevely actually played in the Liverpool first team though? (answer one sub apperance during extra time in the carling cup against Northampton) I imagine Adam would rather play first team football for saints than warming someones bench in the PL (although you never know) at this stage of his carrer. I think Adams a great player, but we really don't have a lot of evidence that he is good enough to play as a regular first teamer in the PL do we? How many times has he played against PL oppostion in the last couple of years two or three?
  13. That doesn't mean a lot my nipper has a Barca shirt, a Dons shirt (my brother in law don't ask), a Spain shirt and a several saints shirts he saints through and through but he likes wearing football shirts. Theres no point worrying about players leaving if he's happy and wants to stay he will if he isn't he won't. The best we can hope for is that we can plunder a good replacement from some team lower down the food chain. Sadly Matty was a one off (and even he wouldn't have stayed if we'd been relegated), most players want to play at the highest level they can for as much money they can and who can blame them? Hopefully the team is better than just one player (although the start of this season suggests that we struggle without Adam unfortunetly)
  14. Ok now I'm with you. I was trying to work out how Forest green got over 21,000 for a game.
  15. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????
  16. Yes there has been steady improvement since Nigel came and we played very well. The players proved last season they have what it takes to get results in this division what ever went wrong at the start of this season has been sorted by getting a manager in place again (rather than totally out of his depth coach). I think what Nigel is doing is great but I still feel we need to be more clinical in front of goal squandering chances may well cost us points against the better teams in the division.
  17. Spot on. A good result and we played some nice stuff but it's one win against Tranmere we haven't just turnned over man U in the cup or something. The lack of killer instinct in front of goal is my main worry at the moment, we should have had a lot more goals against a team with a make shift defence made up of youth players. Last week against Bompey we dominated yet had to rely on two soft penalties to get the result. If we can get the goal scoring addressed I'll be a lot more confident.
  18. Good thing you don't sit in the Chapel we perfer a good flat cap, tartan blanket and a boots thermos flask topped off with a nice scarf thanks very much.
  19. Hardly rocket science though is it don't let in any goals and you won't lose games. Our defence was strong at the end of last season (bar a dodgy RB postion), lost it's way somewhere in the early part of the season and is now back on track. Really though any team in league one that can put out a back four of Fonte, Butterfield, Harding and Jahidi with back up from Seabourne, Mills (who played well last season at LB), Martin and with hopefully Richardson to come back should be pretty hard to score against. Its got to be one of if not the strongest defensive units in league one. Of course having super Kelvin Davis and almost as super Bartman between the sticks helps to.
  20. Having watched The highlights on the football league show I think Wednesday have a long long way to go. Totally out played by Orient at home got one goal against the run of play. Irvine looked embarressed that his side had won.
  21. Hard to tell as he replaced Guly who went off to a standing ovation and his name being chanted, I think he got a cheer though and the Northam gave him some chants (I think it was the one about being wanted by scotland yard so I'm not sure if that counts as support). He did get a cheer when his name was read out before the match and aloud of clapping when he was warming up. So all in all I think he was generally supported by SMS.
  22. Same happened to big willy the Dons keeper last season couldn't kick a ball that stayed on the pitch that day as he got more wound up with every chant, although to be fair he was a bloody awful keeper and actually quite porky to boot.
  23. Thats what fans do. Are you suggesting that only those fans who have managed a league football club are allowed to debate a managers descisions?
  24. No they really were crap. Not trying to take anything away from a good performace but against a better team we would have rued the many chances we didn't captalise on.
  25. How about a 50 question Saints/football knowledge test before entering SMS anyone who doesn't get 50 out of 50 is banned for life? Or maybe only those with FIFA coaching badges should be allowed in? Footballs a game of opinions if it's really painful for you to suffer watching football with other people you could just watch saints player and Dave Merrington can give you full commentry as someone who knows the game inside and out.
