I see the Attorney-General is to review whether the sentences handed to the two men convicted of killing teenager Stephen Lawrence were "unduly lenient". The review follows a request by a member of the public and comes after the trial judge, Mr Justice Treacy, suggested he would have doubled the minimum terms of Gary Dobson and David Norris if the law had allowed. I was suprised that they were lenient. but then realised that they carried out the killing when they were teenagers and therefore got a teenagers sentence. I was still suprised at this, As Michael Ross up here who was eventaully convicted of shooting an Indian Waiter up here when he was 15 back in 1994 The case was heard in 2008 and ross received a 25 year sentence. He is waiting for an appeal. Through no fault of his own his appeal been delayed on a number of occassions and is due to be heard sometime this year. There must be one rule for the english and another for scotland when it comes to jail sentences for committing a crime when your underage. Any thoughts Oh the Ross case has divided the community up here. The police involved were retired after the conclusion of the case and it is felt there has been a miscarriage of justice here and a lot of lies told. I know the police involved and Ross's family. Its about time the word racist is clearly defined. Afro carrobean dislike africans Both Groups dislike Asians Theree was the recent high profile case of a Polish urologist who one her case for racism amongst other claims against a health authority . There are lots of examples of racism of black youths on asian folk and vice versa. How ever the authorities seem to not use the the term racism in these cases. Racism should be stamped out what ever creed . skin or country you are from but it is not purely white on black it is far more serious than that
