  1. Money received for season tickets will be accounted for in the accounts to which they relate. The club pays tax on its profits 9 months after the end of its accounting year. So if the club prepares accounts to 30 June 2010, but season tickets for the following year are issued in April 2010, then while the club gets the benefit of our cash early, it does not pay tax on our money until 1 April 2012 on the 2010/11 tickets. So there is no tax penalty to the company if it takes money for the next season early. But its gets our money in their bank account. You could therefore suggest they are doing us all a favour, particularly if they offer us a compertitive package. Best of all if we know in the future that this is going to be the way forward then we can't have too much to complain.
  2. I hear that Pompey are to be taken over by the 3 Rs. Relly Gation, Roger Andout and Rupert XXXX.
  3. Forget about the past. We are/could be at the start of a new revolution. Patience is needed as most fans I know are far more optimistic under the new regime. The uncertainty of the last few years appears to have eroded. Lets look at the positives for a change. We just need a few wins, the team gets some confidence and then the strength of our squad will pull us through. We no longer need to sell to continue in existence. Compare ourselves to the real strugglers in our league who don't know if they will be in existence by Christmas let alone next season. I hope that AP is beginning to put in place a structure that will see us see us move forward, battle hard for 90 + minutes and serve up some decent football in due course. AP knows the score, if he doesn't achieve he knows the outcome. It is very early days, so let the dust settle. Several new signing, not just on the pitch. Ultimately its down to creating the right mentality - just ask Alex Ferguson who could have been sacked 20 years ago by Man Utd. As for "mongy fans", they exist at every club - some people just love a whinge. Fast forward 10 years they will still be there but irregardless lets keep the faith.
  4. Please everyone. Lets have a bit of sanity and act saintly! FF is too valuable a poster to lose on this site. Many of us lead busy lives, so rely on the regulars to keep us up to speed on the "real issues". FF has had his fair share of critics on this site and has to put up with some unwanted attention during the low(e) era. I sreiously believed, perhaps naively, that with the new regime at this club, the forum members would now unite and be more postive. FF keep up the good work.
  5. Lovely. Next please,
  6. Does anyone believe that we need an outfield player who Pardew needs to install as a leader on the pitch. For several years IMHO we have been lacking a player who can inspire on the pitch particularly when we are losing on a typical wet and windy day when we need to push on rather than accept our fate. It has been a major problem at Southampton for many a year. So WCDAJFU at this level? Where is Jimmy Case No 2.
  7. I remember Jim very well. He was at St Marys College at the same time as myself. In fact he was well known to Clive Foley as Clive will testify. Jim suffered horrendous burns in a fire at his home and was seen on a Southern TV documentary being received at Odstock Hospital back in the 70s. Jim always seemed to end up in trouble mainly through his own exumberance. I recall a trip to Sheffield United in the late 70s when he mistook Saints fans for the home supporters who has got in our terrace and ended up being bundled down the terraces. He also came a cropper at Mansfield. So back to the old days how many recall Clive Foley tours particularly the trips up north which used to leave from Southampton late on Friday night. A trip to Newcastle when the police stopped us from going to Nottingham was legendary. Also how many were in the pub near the Guildhall when Pxxxxy turned up after a game in Cardiff and it went off in the early 80s. A friend had arranged to have his leaving do there and only tipped us off after the event. RIP Jim
  8. For what Its worth I have been in the financial sector for several years. I have seen several companies put into liquidation as a result of poor financial decisions and in almost every situation it has been as a result of owners who fail to admit their mistakes. Greed appears to obsure their minds so to attend a liquidation meeting can be a painful experience. In todays society it it seems that it is wrong to admit failure. At least Leon Crouch has had the good grace to be make positive overtures to the fans. I rest my case and perhaps foolhardy look forward to a more transparent Board of Directors who can unite the fans and get us back to the promised land. In conclusion Leon may have made mistakes but IMHO he has tried to make amends. Pity RL and MW were not on the pitch on Saturday to help out.
