  1. Nick Anything you dig up is considered Treasure Trove and must be reported to the authorities who will sell on your behalf and return a small commission. However if you send me £47.50, paid into my Lagos account, I will not alert the authorities and therefore save you from instant arrest and incarceration in the Tower.
  2. RPB Did you take GCSE in 1963 or 'O' Levels? I sat latter. All exams in those days, no course work, and a pass was 40% with an 'A' Grade 80% (I think) Was also distracted by the cold weather and Saints Cup Run (went to every game) and only achieved 5 'O's which scraped me into the 6th Form of my Grammar School. Worked a bit harder for 'A' Levels and achieved 3 but not outstanding grades. Have to say schools offer much more of choice nowadays and facilities are great compared to the very basic arrangements we had to put up with then. Discipline was much stricter and we had to wear uniform (incl caps!!) right up to the Upper 6th (I was 18 then!!!) Education is different now (and dare I say better) but think the marking criteria is more relaxed to maximise pass rates which then dilute their meaning
  3. Scud Thanks for the response. Do we know any details of our loans or are they all different?
  4. Jon A bit slow I'm afraid. Give us a clue (or two)
  5. Anyone ITK able to explain how these work. Am I right to assume the club receiving the loan player will pay all (or in some cases part) of the players weekly wage and possibly bonuses plus a fee to the players club plus a possible agents fee? Iguess there is no hard and fast rule as circumstances will determine actual arrangements, just wanted to establish the fundamentals. Most people I have spoken to assume loans (and free transfers) incur little cost when this is unlikely to be the case
  6. Anyone think the good Doctor may be a foreign relative of John Westwood? They both appear to share the same dress sense
  7. Wasnt new player recruitment left to Rupert and Kim Van Der Waals?
  8. Even Port Vale had a bigger attendance last night than down the road
  9. Actually their recent 'success' has coincided with the move away from their previous (Navy owned?) training ground to the rarified air of a Southampton Post Code!!!
  10. As an aside, anyone know how the Portsmouth New's campaign ..'Arise Sir Harry' is going.? Apparently still a live item on the paper's web site!!
  11. I'm told on good authority that the people helping the Storrie Teller to sell Pompey have given up looking for well heeled humans and have started down the road of rich animals. Those on the target list are: 1. Gunther IV, an alsatian dog, Worth £224.6m (Gunther's father inherited the fortune from Countess Karlotta Libenstein in 2000) 2. Kalu, a chimpanzee, £53m The chimp inherited the cash when its owner chose it to be her heir rather than her husband. 3. Toby Rimes , a poodle, £30m The original Toby inherited £15m from its owner in 1931. 4.Oprah Winfrey's dogs, £30m The dogs are rumoured to have been assigned £30min Oprah's will 5. Gigoo , hen. £10m The hen inherited publishing mogul Miles Blackwell's fortune in 2000. 6. Goldy, goldfish. £215.50p Likely to inherit remaining unemployment benefit and child allowance from a consortium of tatooed, shaven headed ne're do well's residing on the Tax Haven of Portsea Island. The consortium is rumoured to be fronted by John Scales and Micky Finn
  12. Chatting to a few mates recently about Saints recent appalling record on Sky TV Mention was made of several Big Screen Live games at the Dell. We seem to have lost most of these. Any one have an idea of games played and results? Often the quality of reproduction on the screen was very poor, unlike today
  13. Surely this inexperienced youngster can't be better than Anthony Pulis?
  14. I have seen different figures which show Saints all time average above Pompey's. I recollect that in the last 40 yrs or so Pompey have only had 3 seasons when their average gate was above ours despite, for the large part , having a larger capacity ground, altho to be fair Pompey generally played in a lower division (or two, or occasionally three) Saints had better crowds up until the mid 1920's, Pompey's were higher until the mid 1960's, albeit with a ground with a max capacity of 50,000+ compared to the Dell at a shade over 30,000, which racked up quite a bit of aggregate gain. Does it say anywhere what season the aggregate figures start from?
  15. Reported in the Sunday Times today (so presume a relatively reputable source) that Fulham bid £11m for Crouch but Spurs won the day with a £9m offer. Apparently Big Al Fahid (the Fulham owner) Fax'd the offer to Dr Silly Man (or whatever his name is) but, apparently, the fax never arrived. Things to consider here. i) Peter Storrie, apparently, deals with all Pompey transfers and ii) Mr Storrie and Mr Redknapp are/were good buddies. What do you make of all this??
  16. Even the blogs on the Pompey News are accepting the take over is dead. We done Duncan's (Fitzhugh Fella's) mate However this may not be all bad news for Pompey. We got rid of the dross and seem to be saved by a more suitable investor. Could happen down the road. Interested to know if the new Training Ground at Gosport will start on schedule or will we have to put up with our Fishy Friends training within the SO post code.?. Just goes to show how tolerant we are this side of Hampshire. I doubt v much if Saints training in the PO area would have gone down well with the tatooed masses
  17. 9,018 but with 2-3,000 Rangers in?
  18. when was the last time we won our 1st game of the season and how many games on Sky now without a win A draw, in the circumstances, was a good result
  19. Scores winner for Blackpool against Everton tonight in pre season friendly Arguably would have done an OK job for us in L1 but at a vastly reduced wage!!
  20. 'encouraging'
  21. Man City are the new Blackburn!! Quite a few pristine City kits around and about the Cornwall area recently Still prefer these to the Man Utd counterparts. Actually saw one or two Saints kits which was Yet to see a new Newcastle away kit. Apparently approx 4 replicas have been sold
  22. spyinthesky

    Skates

Unfortunately Pompey are still far stronger than us. David Nugent is a struggling Premier striker but would be outstanding in League 1 let alone the Championship. Hopefully the gap will close very soon
  23. Surely someone has their geography wrong Bournemouth in the South West group whereas Exeter (further west) are in the southern draw!!
  24. Have a look at Richer Sounds in London Rd
  25. Pro Glaze was mentioned earlier on. They fitted my replacement windows recently. Decent price and good service. I had a subsequent problem with my conservatory roof (nothing to do with them as built several years ago). They came round and fixed FOC
