Theres a lot of good documentries around as well at the mo. Just finished watching "The War" by Ken Burns who made a superb series on the American Civil War a few years ago.
The War is yet another series on WW11 but made from a very American perspective ,has some amazing archive film and awesome recollections from American participants both on the front line and at home.It is not afraid to criticize as well which is unusual for a US series.
Also been watching "Shooting The War" on BBC4. Again WW11 but is a compilation of home movies from Germany and the UK from the Home Front and the Frontline. Nearly all of it previously unseen.
