I’ve watched every interview a couple of times. It’s like Martins first official for Saints. A lot of fans were saying it was a bland interview. I’ve watched it a few times ( yes I’ve got too much time on my hands at the moment ) and there was a lot in the there. I remember him being asked about his possession football and said something along the lines of he would be prepared to change it in a particular game if necessary. Hes mentioned several times that we have 3 or 4 players lined up he’s spoken to the players and their clubs. They are keen to join us and are prepared to wait. Wilcox interview was excellent. He’s even mentioned although his contract didn’t officially start until the end of last season he’s been looking at players for us since January. im assuming with the approval of City after Joe Shields jumped ship to Chelsea so quickly. You can take my word for it or not up to you. Even Dragan admitted last season was a mess and said he should have keep more of an eye on what was happening. Don’t forget he own quite a few major companies as well as SR. He said he would be keeping a much closer eye on Southampton this year. I don’t think people realise how powerful he is in Eastern Europe. He’s a even a major player in opposition to the Serbian Government. He has a reputation can’t see him accepting failure again.

The only people that know who the 4 players prepped to join us are Jason Wilcox, Darren Mowbray and Russell Martin. As Martin and Wilcox have said the team at the end of the window will be quite different from now. I remember Martin saying in his first interview the fans have to be patient it’s a long season. Clearly he hadn’t been briefed on the fact 50% of our fan base are negative and ignorant. I was talking to a season ticket holder and fanatical Saints fan. He was saying he didn’t know why he bothered to go any more. I mentioned SR his response was “ oh aren’t they the lot that are ripping us off “ I then mentioned Jason Wilcox and Darren Mowbray. He hadn’t heard of them. I gave up in the end.

It’s obvious Martin is using this as a practice game. Clearly he will want to win but if we’d fielded a stronger team he wouldn’t have learnt much

Can’t add much to any of the previous comments. This is just the start of the Wilcox / Martin era. Can only see us getting better. Yeah we are going to lose Lavia probably JWP. The two players I think we need to keep are Tella and KWP. I reckon Bazuna will settle in when the defensive line up is finally sorted. I genuinely apologise for repeating this but let’s not forget we have been told we have at least 4 or 5 incomings on the way . We have a fair bit of dosh already. The backstage boys havnt put a foot wrong. I cannot see anyway we will not get at least one good striker in.

It’s a frustrating time and most of us assume we are going to lose JWP, Lavia probably Tino. That’s a good wedge of money. I go back to Martins comment we have 3 or 4 players lined up. He doesn’t seem like a blagger to me. As I keep on saying I cannot believe the trio of Wilcox, Mowbray and Martin havnt got at least one striker lined up. Again I refer to Martins comment the team we start with Friday will be different in a months time. I don’t even believe it will be a weaker team probably much better suited for a Championship surge. The situation is irritating but it’s obvious the time of the window shutting has been factored in.Assuming nothing really dramatic happens before tomorrow imagine the squad we will have. Yet again Martins demand to players that while they are in the Squad he expects 100% from the players it’s not unrealistic for us to play Lavia, JWP. Despite my general optimism I’ve been a Saints supporter since I was a kid ( my grandmother , who lived in Archers Court used to take me to Football Combination matches ) I am aware Saints do have a habit of biting you back something’s tells me we will lose I will have to avoid the forums.

Let’s be realistic it’s not really a shock if Tino goes. I’m sure we will get good money for him. Shame but good luck to him.

Didn’t Martin say that the interview after the Alkmaar game ? . I sure he said he was fed up with the background chatter. I’ve given you stick in the past for which I apologise BTW .So shoot me down if you want but I reckon our trio Wilcox, Mowbray and Martin have pretty good plan in place.Admittedly I was saying the same thing last season but there seems to be a feeling of order. im quite shocked how poor other teams plans are as well.

Martin likes him and maybe he wasn’t coached properly. There’s a good committed player in there.
