Guided Missile whose knowledge of China extends to ordering sweet and sour and chow mein at the Golden Donkey Let's just hope the UK aspires to a better deal than the complete kowtow it did last year. The idea that China, one of the most opaque and protectionist economies in the world, is going to meaningfully reduce barriers to Britain's service industries such as banking -industries that are central to CCP control and stability- is the height of naivety. The Chinese media put it very well in the wake of the referendum result: that while the the UK was less important to China as a result of Brexit, China was more important to the UK. Taking a cue from Johnny B aka Baldrick, let's see what that means for the UK's negotiating hand.

It appears it would be for a transitional period. Of course, the UK may or may not choose to apply it for fear of retaliation. At the same time, members of the EEA have always enjoyed an option emergency break, so on one level there is no real new concession here (Norway hasn't applied it). The only difference is that in this case, the UK would probably apply it as it transitions to a Norway-style arrangement or something else; however, after that time-limited period (e.g. 7 years), it would be bound by free movement -all while paying into the EU budget and having no say on the development of myriad rules and regulations affecting the single market. Let's see how this goes with the Brexiters, accepting free movement while paying for the privilege of playing second fiddle. But it's their decision. #noregulationwithoutrepresentation.

You realise that the UK will still have to pay a substantial contribution into the EU budget if it wants access to the single market.

Pal you make it sound like Puel is being to forced to break up a title-winning team, not a makeshift side that has played two halves of preseason football (and not even that) against patchy opposition. You do talk some ****.

Pulling out every stop? Either you didn't read the article or don't understand how the EEA works.

Not sure I follow pal. Brexit will be your loss more than mine - just you're too dim to realise. I'm profiting handsomely from it either way. Conservatives-Labour: much of a sameness to me at a certain level. Let me know when you find that civilisation-wide Islamic bogeyman. Whats millions between pals -

So the dins are showing their true colours now - no more mealy-mouthed conceits about 'Islamic extremism'; a religion is now guilty by association just because a teenage loner and psycho with no reported 'religious' motivations happens to be Muslim. Top stuff. -
And there are completely unbalanced media outlets that will spout partisan s**t and savage politicians just because they're not on the same side. Is that anymore likely to create trust in politics and public life? Sensationalisation, conflict and scandal sell - that's a major reason why politicians are routinely lynched and the context in which they make decisions -ones that involve difficult, unpopular tradeoffs- is rarely reported. On paper, the BBC with its licence fee should be better able to resist these pressures as it doesn't operate to the same commercial logic as other media providers.
-
Agree with some of that, though setting out to 'prove politicians are liars and cheats' has little to do with the BBC's funding status or attempt to be balanced.

Looked comfortable with Clasie and Romeu in the middle. Right-hand side more incisive with Martina and Redmond than the left hand side with VVD often looking there, though Redmond has moved about well. Jrod a bit quiet.

Didn't he play in the Euros and start preseason later pal? Oh.

This makes no sense. That is as strong a lineup as we have available. Perhaps Tadic is injured. Whatever the reason for not featuring, it's unlikely to be because he's deliberately being held back for bigger games.

Like Les, for someone who parades himseld as an old-school, no-nonsense type of a fella, you're a bit of a dippy hippy. There can't possibly be anything such as the truth, expertise and fact. It's just all perception, subjectivity and opinion, man.

Les, thanks for opening my eyes: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/apr/27/bbc-brexit-case-lord-patten-john-whittingdale

Verbal provides a better diagnosis of your predicament than me pal, if you want to seek assistance. Anyhow not sure I saw that particular headline from the BBC - or at least it wasn't any more or less dramatic than the media coverage elsewhere. There has been plenty of BBC coverage on the FTSE 100's recovery http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36864532 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36772309 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36802646 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36648630 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36681794 No real mention that the FTSE 100's rise has been helped by currency adjustments which, of course, you would expect from a lefty, propagandising beeb keen to take the shine off things. Even at the height of troubles, the BBC was reporting other voices to ensure balance. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36636853 Even with yesterday's PMI results, the BBC correspondent's assessment seems more sanguine and upbeat than others: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36864273 Baldrick, given that the FTSE 250 is still trading below its pre-referendum level, its not surprise that the BBC, a producer of news, not make-believe, isn't reporting that companies are adding billions just yet. For what its worth the FTSE 100 is trading below major US and European indices since June 23. While there have been reactions to 'good' news such as May's appointment, strong June jobs data in the US etc, markets have been moving very unpredictable ways, confirming the old truism that bad news in economic fundamentals is good news for markets as they bet on more central bank largesse and chivalry.

What does that mean?

More than this sorry incident has to do with rampaging refugees, it would seem. -

Alas not one of Jamie's finest efforts. Almost seems cruel to stop him short as he was going full throttle and knocking out one at the prospect of rampaging IS-infected refugees. #justanothersaturdaynightinmaidstone -

The PMI could well be an initial overreaction but the idea that remainers and the media are responsible or partly responsible for failing to talk the country up...that's up there for flippant denial.

But but but the FTSE 100's up....
