  1. I concur - I have already made my assessment. Pardew is a good manager. However, if he is eight points clear on December 31st, it will be no indication of our real likelihood of automatic promotion as Leeds and Millwall have proven. (Albeit, we are much more likely than if we were sat in 12th/13th, 40 points off the play-offs!) So we have to make a decision now - where in the league do we need to be for people to be satisfied that he is doing a good job? Or more to the point, what evidence do those who feel we have underperformed this season (and I cannot believe such people exist, but then so does the Klu Klux Klan and Jedward) need by Christmas 2010? (And, I will say this again for the hard of thinking, I believe we will be promoted this season through the play-offs, obviously).
  2. It's worth going on football 365 and reviewing the league one stats to remember that we didn't win a single bloody game in August and that we had only won ONE game at the end of September... This is where the real gap emerged with our rivals. Anyone who thinks we had a 'blip' is bonkers and time and again our results at places like Tranmere, Brenford and Wycombe have been shown to be on a par with our rivals (if not better than them)... http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/tosep.html If we don't get promoted (and I still maintain we can) this season, the evidence is that the current squad and manager can do the business next season. Especially if we get another central midfielder in!!
  3. Define 'off the pace'? Where do you think it is/will be acceptable to be?
  4. I am not liking us to Millwall at all. I am pointing out that people will see if we are top a Xmas and conclude that Pardew is doing a good job if we are. Which would be a mistake based on this season wouldn't it? So equally, it would be a mistake to assume that if we are not top or in an automatic promotion spot by Xmas that we will not win the league. Personally, I think we will be promoted through the play offs THIS SEASON. Which shows no lack of ambition whatsoever. It is sad that one cannot make a valid observation - including indisputable facts - on this forum without it resorting to the type of total cobblers perhaps I should have expected... Shame we could have had a discussion about football and momentum and when one can judge how effective/successful a manager is...hey ho at least the Masters is on.
  5. I have already assessed that he is a good manager. All the evidence says so. The point I was making is that the league table now bears no relation to the table at Christmas. So even six months into the season is no time to be able to tell where the league will end - In December people would have said (and did say) what a great manager Grayson is - much better than Kenny Jacket. Who would have predicted Millwall would gain automatic promotion? No one. I appreciate such things are beyond your comprehension as you feel a ridiculous need to villify and divide at every conceivable opportunity. I have no idea why but there is plenty of help available should you choose to look for it.
  6. I am arguing that short term assessment - even six months - is no indication of promotion potential.
  7. Er? Decisively firing Kenny Jacket would have been a great move, clearly... As usuall you totally miss the point.
  8. But if we were eight points clear you would tick the box to say we're on track... just goes to show how wrong you might be. Likewise, you might have fired Kenny Jacket... I believe it says Pardew needs a full season to see how we go, unless we are rooted to the foot of the table.
  9. On December 31st, Leeds were eight points clear at the top of the league. Milwall were eighth - TWENTY points behind Leeds. So how the hell can we hope to make an assessment of our promotion chances halfway through a season??
  10. We need Swindon to win!!!!
  11. We draw too many, but two fewer than you claimed!
  12. Depends do I get a bog, and a stop off in Hersham?
  13. Haven't you got a bus to rip some Saints fan off with?
  14. Eight - we have a game in hand.
  15. Not really, today was a game they were always going to win. Let's see them beat Milwall and Swindon. And see how they get on at Exeter. Long shot for sure but they will drop six/seven points easily. It's just a question of whether we can go into the last game of the season within three points of them.
  16. Message for Adam. If you want to test yourself physically and mentally at the equivalent level to Celtic, Bitterne Cubs have an opening in their under 11 side. Seriously, Scottish football?? That's an oxymoron. It's the Ratners of World sport.
  17. One question. Why during three years did Delap never say... "Guv, did you know I can throw a football further than Beattie can kick it?"
  18. Aye, but draws against Swindon, Leeds, Bristol... should not convince us that Oldham can turn them over. Although in the words of Kevin Keegan I would love it just love it....
  19. Introduce her to DD - two closet Plymouth fans...
  20. And the teams Huddersfield have played at home this year include: Charlton, Norwich, Leeds, West Brom, Swindon and Bristol... to be fair.
  21. It's not, Huddersfield won at home on 16 Jan. 2-1.
  22. The only easy games for them there are tonight, Walsall and Stockport, the rest are tough, tough games, check out our/Leeds and Norwich's results against those sides... Someone also told me Huddersfield have yet to win at home this year. Is that true???
  23. With your attitude I suspect you have plenty of P45s to hand...
  24. You won't replace a player like him for £2m. So why would we sell him for that? Lallana is worth three Hammonds in my view. How many goals has Hammond crafted/scored for us?
  25. We don't sing this enough!!! Can we please drop that pathetic Pompey's going down with no money in the bank - which doesn't even fecking scan properly - and replace with S O U TH Ampton... Thank you.
