So we might well have the Italian here then?
-
No, we're (well I) am bemused that we think the club aren't doing anything about. That would be idiotic. And have the Chairman or Manager at any stage given any impression they don't know how to run a football club?
-
I think you should give up your sbscription to the Daily Sport. They never did find a bus on the moon you know. Or Elvis...

When did we know about Clyne signing? Why do you believe everything you read? If we're in for this Italian, why do you assume that is the only player we are in for in that position? Why is your assumption that you know more about the player strategy and transfer activity than the current manager and Chairman and that Adkins isn't happy about what's going on? I made up a quote to demonstrate how ridiculous all your assertions are. But I see I am wasting my time...
-
But he won't, will he? And why would you assume that he won't back his manager when he has clearly done so over the past two seasons? The positions they have discussed maybe totally different to those we imagine they need - regardless of what he says in public. He might be motiviating his current reserves? He might be throwing other managers off the scent? He may be playing to agents?
-
How dare you suggest we don't know the player strategy and transfer policy. Down negative man...
-
No, I think we agree here. If the manager identifies a position that needs to be filled and it isn't, then it's a collective failure. Back to why we got into this debate which is what would happen if we were bottom at Christmas, and I think Cortese would fire Adkins. Does that make it right if they collectivelty failed to recruit the right personnel? No. But I have rarely seen a Chairman share the failure on the pitch...

It was tweeted because I read it, which means it was probabably tweeted by OfficialSaints or one of the players I follow. It was something like 7.62 miles he covered?? But I can't recall. It was definitely the most of any Premiership player. -
Ah yes, here it is... "I've been desperate to bring in two new Centre Backs, a left back and a left winger, but the Chairman is refusing to put up the cash for the players we need. What I really need to succeed in this league is a Chairman who appreciates the urgency of the players we are lacking and backs me to the hilt. So far, Nicola Cortese has blocked a handful of potential targets, refused to meet the scandalous wage demands and rejected four of my five new player requests..." We heard this total cobblers about our transfer strategy EVERY close season for the past three years. Hasn't done us too much harm to date. Who knows, maybe this is the year the Chairman will fail...
-
Ah, apologies. I forgot half of this board were privvy to our transfer policy and player strategy. I'll butt out...

Re-read my post. Take a deep breath and the decide if that's what I said...

You didn't watch us last week outpace the Champions on half a dozen occasions at the back then? Both the first and second goals came on the break - something I didn't expect to see from this side. I'm not saying everything is perfect and we should relax - this is a learning curve for our entire squad and manager. But J-Rod has pace (he showed it last week), Chung has pace, Rickie doesn't need it because his positioining is outstanding. Clyne looks pacy and classy - I agree Fox is a weak link (although by no means the worst left back in the Premiership) but then our numbr 3 shirt is unattributed... Morgan looks up to this standard, as does Lallana, as does Guly (no matter what people say about his laziness). As does Davis. As, to be fair, after two games does JWP. I'm cheesed off we didn't beat Wigan. I thought we bossed the first half and they were there for the taking. Second half we were sloppy and maybe too complacent. And it cost us dearly. But I'm not going to lose sleep because if there is one thing the management of this football club have shown it's that they have a vision and will implement it without a second thought to the 'fan-consequences' (sacking Pardew)...
-
If this comes about DD, I would expect Adkins to be fired, a new manager appointed and a budget for new players allocated. Cortese does not countenance failure. And that's what gives me faith above all else.
-
We had plenty of time in the final third as well if you watch the game again, as I did this morning. We just used it poorly, held onto it too long and on too many occasions weren't patient enough. It's a little bit of confidence we need. If Adam's shot had gone in it could have been a wholly different game with a different outcome... I agree we lost the ball in midfield but because we weren't thinking clearly about using the ball, lacked movement off it and too often someone ended up hitting the wrong pass. The difference with Swansea is only slim - we were playing like they are now, last season. Against slightly worse opposition, true. And Laudrup is currently a far better manager than Adkins (but in my view only because of experience). But I'm not going to panic about two games during which we're learning. (Jos tweeted as much after the game). Last season, Blackpool 'hit the ground running' in the Premiership and were in the top half for the first third of the season, flirting with European places. Where are they now? And where are QPR and Wigan?
-
Enough to pass it or put it safe.
-
Yes, you were seeing things. HTH. We had plenty of time on the ball - at times we used it superbly, at times we wasted it, holding it up and hitting the pass far too slowly/late. If you want me to sit next to you at the next game and point these things out, I'd be happy to...

1, 4 and 5. "Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Ferris Bueller. -
Our players HAD more time on the ball. That's the whole point, they DWELT on the ball...

What is this cobblers? Last week on MoTD we were going to be fine - Southampton will be ok this season, playing like that no problem, they can hold their own, they play good football... This week it's going to be a tough season... No wonder fans are so fickle when pundits can't hold the same opinion across 6 fecking days. David Moyes said the most sensible thing on MoTD last night. "after ten games is how you judge the start of the season"
-
Watched MoTD. None of them can catch the ball. They all parry it (often directly back into the box or straight up in the air). None of them come off their line. Ten years ago I would have said KD wasn't Premiership standard even at his best, but the truth is, yesterday keeper after keeper was beaten at the near post, fluffed easy saves, had the ball driven through them/under them and right by them. I'm just shocked really.
-
No, probably not. Perhaps among the fannies and bedwetters you are made of sterner stuff. I'm not worried about one home defeat. Come back to me in November and if we have the same team, playing in the same positions, making the same mistakes, I'll be pi ssing all over my duvet. But not today. It's premature.

It's true. We're used to winning. Now we're going to lose more often. At least for a while. You'd think people might have prepared themselves for it... Swansea were hammered on the opening day last season and now sit top of the league. They won't be there all season, but that's PROGRESS... -

It would have worked better today no doubt, especially in the second half when JayRod and Lallana were ineffective out wide and Lallana only got on the ball coming inside... -
And make whatever changes are necessary no doubt... But apparently in our business (run more successfully than ever in the past, managed more professionally) we won't?

If anyone sees any game as a home banker in the best league in world football, they need their heads examined.
