  1. Very good point - which underlines what we are doing as a club. People want results today and yet the Chairman is building a team in the mould of Barcelona which will take a few YEARS. Not every young player walks into a team and makes an immediate impact.
  2. Surely it is nothing more than logic to recognise that the more a team playes together the better it gets as a unit. Understanding and anticipation must come from time together, don't they?
  3. Ramirez based on one game? Brilliant. Lambert is a superb player and would be in my England team, but even Rickie rates Lallana higher.
  4. The second his positioning was dreadful... I haven't questioned his mental stability. But you'd have to be Stevie Wonder not to see the guy is low on confidence and by his own admission in a bad place - his tweets have all said as much, he's been very hard on himself this whole season (too hard on occasions in my view - better defenders than him will be done by players like Tevez). He needs a boost to get back to where he was.
  5. I don't want to comment on Sunday's game as I was too busy to see it. But having watched all the other games, he is our one truly international class player at present.
  6. Jos is an issue - when he tweets he's 'in a bad place right now' that's not where a Premiership footballer can be. Both Fulham goals can be laid at his door. Someone needs to sort his confidence out. He's not become a bad player overnight.
  7. Optimism aside, I think we will end up in the top ten. When we play to our best, we are superb. We simply need to iron out the idiotic mistakes at the back - Fonte has, Jos needs to (or Yoshida plays) Fox needs to, or Clyne plays at LB. Aston Villa could have conceded eight goals against our first eleven - we tore them apart. But as with any team in our situation we simply do not have the strength in depth.
  8. I don't understand what the problem is. We have four points from three games we should have expected something from. Yes, nine would have been fantastic. Seven would have been great. Four is not a disaster given that we have only just been promoted. If we're in the ship at the end of November, then we can bring in Benetiz or whoever the hell we want.
  9. Well that saved me from posting anything. Thank you.
  10. I love the way people trot out the bo llo x from the press like it's fact. We've thrown away winning positions... Sure. Against Man Citeh we actually came from a losing position to lose, as we did against United. We have taken the lead and lost ONE game. ONE fecking game where we went ahead first and lost. No credit for the fightbacks in either case I notice - or against Fulham - for those who think the players aren't playing for their manager... Oh and by the way, that's football. Welcome to the real world.
  11. Be fair. We conceded three goals against United - so did Newcastle yesterday. We conceded three goals against Citeh - so did Sudnerland on Saturday. We conceded six goals against Arsenal - thats 12 of the 20 goals conceded in three games against Champions' League sides! And we've just been promoted. No-one is saying we do not have issues in defence but our worst culprit had to come into the team yesterday because of injury and cost us the game (by his own admission on Twitter!) - not my judgement! But there is nothing we can do now other than better training. And by January perhaps we will have the back four back who played well in the second half against Villa!
  12. It was a term of endearment (Alpine knows how often I have defended his right to freedom of speech) - if he was offended, I apologise (I'm sure he wasn't). But why a need for a miracle? We're not detached from the pack, we're not the worst team in the league. We're well in touch, out of the relegation zone having played three of the top four teams (two away from home) and Arsenal. We know what the issues are (we leak too many goals). We have no issues scoring. We have between now and the end of the season to sort this out. If, after the run we have had we are not adrift, why should we be any worse off by January?
  13. Very shocking actually. We only have 17 muppets. I thought it was thousands...
  14. Er yes. Sacking Pardew after four games worked out very well.
  15. Agreed. There is no way Cortese will countenance relegation. You don't have a five year plan, overdeliver and then undo it all. There will be no sentiment with Adkins and probably rightly so. But like you, I want him to come good - we need young English managers to succeed playing the right way.
  16. I would like to see Adkins given time to learn Pemiership management, but I doubt he will be given long. We can't afford relegation and the Chairman knows it, so he has to be convinced Adkins can at the very least keep us up, but ideally compete. With the 11 available who started/finished the Villa game it's possible, but Jos is having a nightmare (admitted as much on his own Twitter feed) and we need a settled back five.
  17. Right now. We are fourth bottom. No one is happy with it, but it's enough. So who need a miracle, you fecking eejit.
  18. Didn't go, didn't see it but the good news we're not in the bottom three and not remotely detached. A couple of wins with Clyne and Gaston back and being able to play our best 11 and we'll be comfortably mid-table and much more confident...
  19. Deserves a good reception. Lovely lad, good player, did us proud on his debut!!
  20. A touch too dramatic. We need 40 points. Possibly less. They can come from anywhere. For 27 years of my supporting life we lost to teams like Fulham, Bolton, Blackburn, Luton, Brighton, Villa, Sunderland and worse. And beat the Champions. We could do with a win today for sure - for confidence and because we need a fortress. But today won't decide anything alone. Keep calm and carry on
  21. Found that by chance this morning - four of the ugliest goals you will see!
  22. Yep. There will always be bad news. And you can always give it with respect for the recipient. It does not change the outcome, but it does change how BOTH parties feel about the outcome. There are two things that mark out a man: responsibility and respect for others. And what this country (and the world) has seen in recent years, is a deplorable lack of both.
  23. Yep, in front of both Clyne and Richardson, he looked a fabulous handful!
  24. Jesus wept, Hammond is a suggestion for a Premiership midfield? I know football is about opinions, but you could have an opinion the moon was made of cream cheese and you would be just as wrong...
  25. First, I don't much mind either way how I buy my programme, but a quick thought for some people on here: To have no respect for anyone in any form of paid work (however menial you consider it to be) who is let go with no notice and at no fault marks you out as a grade 1, class A, C U N T. And that is a word I use extremely rarely and only with a deal of thought. So well done.
