  1. There's a difference between forecast and actual.
  2. What we need is not a team that can adapt to the Premiership, but a fan base that can. We're a decent footballing side who were undone today by another side who can play on their day under a decent manager. If we finish 17th and pick up seven times the SKY money next season, that's good enough. But we won't. We'll finish mid-table (10th-14th) because the manager and Chairman are not as idiotic as half of the fanbase, thank God...
  3. Only an idiot would judge a league campaign after two games... oh...
  4. First sensible analytical post on this thread. Well done.
  5. This is how I remember the Premiership. No doubt we'll beat Man U next Saturday...
  6. The comment doesn't even deserve this reply.
  7. What's done for us today is the wrong selection and tactics. 4-3-3 at City was the right call. Today against a team who were happy to sit ten men behind the ball and wait for us to give it away, I'm not so sure...
  8. Why, because he was fouled??!
  9. This is what I don't understand. We played with pace on the break last week and we looked good and controlled (outclassed ultimately). Today we look slow, ponderous and completely like we don't know our style.
  10. For the record, I made my observations pretty obvious above, that I think the 11 on the pitch and all subs are well up to finishing 14th. However, I was massively impessed by Clyne - not enough to have his babies yet, we've all played at least one blinder, bowled on good over, picked up one stunner, after all... But if Clyne is the real deal after another half dozen games and there is a left back equivalent out there, I would bite your right arm off to get him!
  11. Don't worry about QPR. Certainties for the drop. Hughes doesn't know whether to sh** or fart. He's buying more old crocks and mercenaries to go with the ones they already have...
  12. Let's imagine it is to be 'competitive'. And (although my ambition is higher) let's assume competitive means finishing 14th and picking up the MASSIVE TV rights deal next year.
  13. Last Tuesday I spent the evening in Liverpool and got chatting to a few locals. From what I could understand (I did a lot of nodding), the lads there didn't think Rickie would 'cut it' in the Premiership - I sent them a little note pointing out that he has currently scored more than the entire Liverpool and United squads on Tuesday morning... But time and again people write-off footballers as only fit for a certain 'level' and those players then go on to prove themselves above the level they're fit for. At least competitively. Players like Grant Holt, for example. It supports my view that actually until you get to superstar level (Torres, Tevez, Fabregas, Balotelli, RVP, Aguerro) the difference between top Championship players and the Premiership is quite slim. So looking through the current first team that played on Sunday - is there anyone who really simply cannot cut it this season? I don't think so. You?
  14. One slip against over £1bn of football talent... He is a great left back who is no worse than 14 others in this league. When Ashley Cole is available, grand.
  15. Good summary without any argument.
  16. Has he said Europe this year? I've backed us to win the league, so trust me I don't lack ambition! (I collect £83k if we do win it)
  17. Rowers, sailers and cyclists all performed exceptionally - as they have done since LONG before SCW was involved. Athletes MISSED their medal target as did the Swimmers. It's impossible to say what SCW did without asking the sports themselves but I don't think many of them credit him with doing anything from what I've read...
  18. I have given up Radio Two. It's become the Daily Mail on air.
  19. True. True. But I think Lowe looked first at maximising revenue without realising that if you invested in the football side first, then the remainder would follow. So he would rather spend on a radio station to grow supporter base than recognise that if you put money on the pitch the radio station and supporters would come to you...
  20. The strategies of Lowe and Cortese are one and the same. Their execution is different because of one fundamental, Cortese places first team results above every other concern. Which is perfect football Chairmanship.
  21. Ah, ok! Didn't see that. So a new number 3 then...
  22. Two key questions in our squad numbers unless I'm being really thick... Who will be our new numbers 3 and 10? New left/right back and new winger/frontman?
  23. This idea that Adkins will chuck in a load of young players and see how we get on... not a snowball's chance in hell. You will see a team that understand's Citeh's strengths and plays to ours. Unless you believe that after two seasons of near-perfect tactical analysis, he is now reverting to Burley player scrabble, picking them out of the green bag at random...
  24. We always had a very good record at Maine Road. I can see us nicking something tomorrow....
