I'm more confident about Tuesday because Hull play football under Barmby, although I'm sure their pitch will be equally bobbly! What I hope bodes well is that we are now a BIG club in this league at the top of the table - and, as we know from history, the bigger clubs get a better rub of the green!

Agreed, thought all the official got most things right. Apart from when Sharp's feet were clipped on the edge of the box and he waved play on! As for Jackett, he must be gutted. They did a proper job on us and in truth deserved to win, at worst draw. Fair play to their lads. I actually felt for them on the whistle - especially the black lad on the edge of the area who just held his head in his hands, having worked his knackers off all afternoon.

Don't let the result paper over the cracks of this shocking performance! Yes, it was incredible to be there. But our midfield after the first ten minutes was woeful - it lacked any semblence of control. I don't think the pitch helped but there was none of the patient, sensible build up that has been the hallmark of our season. Most passes were received at chest height and nearly no balls were played in front of the receiving players. Hammond simply does not work with Morgan. Lallana and Fox did not link up effectively - they looked like strangers for most of the game. Both full backs failed to overlap sufficiently to create any width. And the final delivery was again hopeless on most occasions. It seems it won't matter because someone up there wants us to go up. Thank God they do! Two more things: 1. Thank you again Kelvin for the TWO saves at 2-1 that kept us in it - even though they only showed the second on the telly. 2. Billy Sharp - buy some STUDS son!

How are so many 40-60 year old farts, who I suspect spend most of their non-Saints times engrossed in the most mundane of pastimes like gardening, parenting, working, drinking red wine or real ale, so bloody animated and excitable when it comes to opinions about football??!!
