  1. Cabella available at 7m. If you compare that to prices quoted at the moment (David luiz, Shaw lallana) that s a snip.

If we lose Morgan works Like us to go with Stambouli of Montpellier very good up and coming player

  2. TBH I think we are on the decline, I think that KL has now ended her overall ambition. Personally I do t think it died with Cortese, I think it had died before that, hence the fallout and eventual sacking/leaving of the don.

Is this overall a bad thing for us ? No of course not, we are in a good position, well funded, well stocked player wise, great academy, top infrastructure. Without reasonable investment itll be difficult to move anywhere further though and as a fan thats genuinely dissapointing.

Has anything happened yet ? No, most of this is pure speculation, nobody has left yet, indeed the silence is deafening but no news is good news right ?

Personally I think the writings on the wall, and for me its sad, of course Ill stick my hand up and say that its a sad indicament of the times that I cannot be contented with a mid table bob job but thats football and thats me. In my job, in my sport I want to see improvement, I want to see the best we can achieve. Regardless of anyones agenda we have all enjoyed the progression, all enjoyed the football and largely yes, as big as he was a cock NC provided that, his money or not.

So yeah, this board is about opinions and largely about speculation, so Ill put mine out there. For me the writings on the wall, the games up. We are on the cusp of something here, a brilliant but not quite finished first team, a brilliant but not quite polished manager and an exciting academy. A few well managed aquisitions and we could make it, convincing players to stay 1-2 yrs and I honestly think that we could target top 6, but in reality ? I think we are going to be on the end of a bad summer. As predicted if you dont match ambition the main pawns will be off, and I dont think KL or RK are offering it.

I may be wrong to question the board, if Im wrobg come summer ill be the first to stick my hand up and apologise, hell, maybe ill even chuck some cash at Saints foundation too as, unfortunately, through the snippets I hear from certain sources, the noises coming from the media do nothing but convince me the dream is over.

    Rant over... Sorry chaps

If we are on the decline and no more money to spend wouldn t it be intelligent for KL to sell and cash in? We haven't heard any of this so I think she is commited.

Think we are still gonna challenge eventually but that will be done progressively. Yes players will be sold to fund this but as we build our brand little by little commercial revenue will go up little by little and we will be become sustainable. Rome wasn t built in one day.

  3. Likewise. Perfect fit for them. Defensive midfielder with the pace and power that they need, but with the passing ability they demand. When van man said two or three would leave I immediately thought Morgan would be one of those. The lack of recognition at international level irks him, and just getting on the WC reserve list is not going to be enough. I have to say I think he is also not terribly happy playing alongside Wanyama. Victor eats his space and his possession.

Just watched the whole interview he gave, didn't like how he was talking in the past tense about Southampton and Pochettino.

He also said he has heard that there were a lot of rumors about him moving to another club, bit suprised as TBH all I have heard are rumors about Shaw Lallana and Lovren.

He also said that he was surrounded by players today who play in the champions league:

If I count correctly 8 players were at Clairefontaine today: Evra, Remy, Sissoko, Mangala, Debuchy, Lloris, Sakho and Schneiderlin.

Hardly players who play in the Champions League...

  4. http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/ptsgain.html

17 points gained from losing positions (11 of those under Sherwood). Southampton: 6 points with 0 wins

    http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/ptslost.html

6 points lost from winning positions (2 of those in games managed by Sherwood). Southampton: 20 points lost

Don't know I would want Sherwood, but that is not really a fair angle of attack.

Wasn't really an attack, but if it sounded like an attack then I appologised.

The way they surrendered against the big clubs and took some very severe beatings just doesńt inspire any confidence at all.

  5. If we ended up with Sherwood, I'd be okay with it. If nothing else he has experience of working with young players. And I like the way he comes across. And his performance at Spurs was good. Not spectacular but far from a disaster. I can think of plenty of candidates I'd like less than Tim Sherwood.

Did you Like the way his Spurs team leaked goals and surrended in games with no fight (excluding the saints game)?

  6. Despite his record with Tottenham and his experience with the spurs academy id prefer we look elsewhere if Pochettino does move on. Tim's style of play and setup would better suit WBA?

André Villas-Boas or Marcelo Bielsa would be better matches for us, but I do understand they have taken recent roles elsewhere. Wouldnt be against Michael Laudrup, recent stories about his squad attention and behaviour are a worry but his record is good and his style of play would allow us some continuity. This time last year he was very much in demand.

Bielsa has agreed to join Marseille next season.

  7. Starting to seriously regret Cortese. Yes he was not a nice man, the working atmosphere for non playing staff was not very pleasing, the ticket fee was horrible for fans but at least he was there to défend our club to the bone against media and the big boys which was really refreshing knowing you had somebody to count on. At the end of the day also he got results : 2 promotions one JPT and a club stable in the premier league. Players and manager also knew where they stood regarding the direction the club was taking which allowed everyone to be focused on the job in hand.

Now, apparently or so it was said in January when Cortese left, we got our club back. Open communication to fans, a better working atmosphere which Will bring some smile back on people's faces.

Yet all we are left with is media putting out stories of board naitivity, big boys bullying us. Players and manager unsure of future objectives and fans not knowing what the hell is going on. But hey we got our club back ;-).

I don't care if KL is a Nice lady. The board Will be judged on results on the pitch and the direction this is taking doesn't bode well at all.

Give me back Cortese any day of the week.

  8. According to the French Press (some of them even get the odd one spot on) Arsenal are looking to pay up to 20 million € so that's a bit over 16 million £. Apparently they're going to watch him again tomorrow and then bung the fax (or whatever it is nowadays) off to SFC. Unless of course he scores 15 OGs or something. The FFF are also likely to have representation at St Marys tomorrow.

What press is that Window? Haven t seen that anywhere?

  9. Michu no, Cabella, Grenier or Hamouma certainly are, to name but 3 known to me, in fact we could probably get 2 of them for the sum we'd expect to get for Lallana, that 25% to Bournemouth is a bit of a bugger though. Don't actually mind the idea of selling Lallana myself, but giving 5 or 6 million to Bournemouth just rankles.

Thought you were against the idea of Cabella Window Cleaner?

  10. Just read l'équipe. It doesn't really say that je is expected to be in the squad, he was supposed to be watched during one of the Saints games 2 weeks ago (i'm guessing Everton) but he was out with an injury. Anyway apparently they called him the other to get his suit size for the official french world cup suit. Doesn't mean he will be chosen.

Seriously though he is their best option available after the dead certs (Cabaye, Mattuidi, Pogba). For me he is ahead talent wise of Gonalons, Mavuba, Guilavogli and Kongogbia)

Here's hoping DD has seen this and Will take him to training camp to run the rule over him and get a little bit of game time.

  11. Imho we have the 8th best squad in the premiership - we finished 8th

Minimum target/expectation (fans, chairman and players) was 8th

Any manager worth their salt would have got us to 8th this season - imho

We had for the majority of this season (Lovren and Wanyama injuries and Osvald's antics the same squad as last season where we finished 14th and flirted with relégation for most part of it.

This season we have finished 8th, way ahead of 10th place and the teams below that.

MP has not only improved our place in the table but you can really see all the work he has done on the training ground with the Players, improving nearly every individual and making us play really well as a team.

I'm curious who you think Would have done a similar job as MP because i really can t see who.

If MP goes we will suffer (key Players Will leave) and the brand of football Will not be the same.

  12. In fact Stevy they would have been better signings because they would have at least played games and not caused trouble.

I know you're Cabella fancier but I go to some Montpeller games and he has absent passages in nearly every game. He's a decent player but I fear that he won't be physically up to the intensity of the PL which is like no other league in the world.

He's not very big and a bit lightweight and that's a big big risk for a midfielder in the PL. Toivonnen is a player who'd do really well in the PL actually.

Being lightweight is a risk yes but the speed and the outrageous skill he has will deceive a lot of Players in the premier ligue.

People were saying the same thing to start with Nasri and Coutinho that they were lightweight. Turned out alright didn t they.

You can add muscle and Power to your game by specific trainińg but you certainly can t add outrageous skill which he has in abondance. He is also a team player and can défend well.

As for Aladiere, we all saw what he was Like when he was at Arsenal and another english club can t remember where, was it middlesborough?

Toivonen certainly is a target man but doesn t have the necessary pace for me to succeed here, a very poor mans Lambert to me without the passing skills and he s only been at Rennes for 3 months so you can t really judge him on that Time yet.

Gameiro is lightweight to me and can t play the Lone striker role. He needed loads of chances last year at PSG to score a goal.

In hindsight yes they maybe would have Played more than Osvaldo but not a lot of people would have predicted a training ground bust up with Fonte. Osvaldo came off a 30 goal season at Roma and a lot of people at the Time were saying je was a very good signing.

  13. Ok I'll have a stab then. Ramos from Hertha, Olic from Wolsburg, Toivonnen from wherever he came from before he went to Rennes in January, Lacazette from Lyon, Remy etc etc etc . All of these players are better than either Lambert or Osvaldo and we could have obtained any of them for the ridiculous fee paid for the latter. Even Aliadiere would have been a better signing, as would Gameiro from Seville.

The fact that you said that Cabella would be a gamble yesterday and now the names you put forward Like Aladiere, Gameiro and Toivonen better signings than Osvaldo make me happy that you are not our chief scout. :-)

Lacazette would have been a good signing, I agree but Lyon would never agreed to sell him for 15 million euros.

  14. No idea, the French league is very poor overall and even a sack of crap can look to be a good player on occasions because of the time and space available and the wimpy tackling. Nothing against Cabella, probably be alright but wouldn't spend billions on him.

Ben Arfa looked a fantastic player when he was at Lyon but he's been very hit and miss with Newcastle.

Ben arfa was blowed hot and cold at Lyon and Marseille just like he is at Newcastle.
