  1. We kinda expect Giggs - Bex - Henry to be fabulous. I was thinking more of a surprising display, like skinny, little Terry Conroy of Stoke one time in the very early 70s. He looked like he'd break but he made Berkshire Hunts of our two big, strapping centre backs.
  2. The second last game at the Dell when we stuffed the Manks....Giggs was unbelievable tbf
  3. All the really fantastic things we've done and yet still strangely cling to '84 as the pinnacle (sorry) and the crowning glory was watching Steve Moran unceremoniously shaft the skates from my viewpoint in the fartton End....magic, pure magic FFS
  4. Good points, gotta soft spot for the Queen's XI, tons of mates here are Boca Junior 'Los Xeneizes' and of course the best team in the Scottish league (where several of us went in a mental away day in '87) Rangers - no not the Queen's XI Glasgow Rangers, but the one and only Berwick Rangers FFS
  5. Y'know not the obvious like the Best hat-trick, Cantona or Henry. Here's a few I recall. Gazza sporting a mullet and socks round his ankles in his teen debut at the Dell, apparently Jackie Charlton didn't rate/like him and he had to wait for Willie McFaul to take over...just a teenager, but what a breath of fresh air (Saints 1:1 Newc, I think). Shilts .v. Frank McCavenney (sp) early one season in the mid 80s, that son of a bit¢h was fantastic, seemed unstoppable. West Ham's François Van Der Elst (did he play for Anderlect too) what a game he had in a 2-1 Saints win one time. Chested the ball down in his own area and dribbled all the way into our's until he got pulled down from behind. Jeez, what a game!! Justin Fashinu against us for Notts Frigging County, I think not long after we'd had in on loan. He made Ken (6'4" streak of krap) his ***** taking three points from us at fortress Dell the year we nearly did it....Christ we coulda done with those three points at the end of that season. What are your memories?
  6. Sorry mate, force of habit I guess. However, all my really old 'pro' football player mates when I was back in the UK (from 40s and 50s) called the beautiful game 'soccer', so not just an American thing tbf. About 30 secs or so in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svEAZYvGd3E&NR=1 for the first time...
  7. See both sides and tbf we're gonna lose ten FFS....but as a Saint, like the rest of you, I just don't want us too....so fight as we can and then move on.
  8. My dad took me once or twice to see the Saints. He was a huge football fan, loved Bestie, Charlie Cooke and Mooro but would never admit it. However, besides England, he could give two fux who won. He literally didn't support, follow or even prefer to watch any team. He just liked a good game, strange to some of us huh???? We have to ask ourselve's, is that the best way to go? I mean, I have season tix to the LA Galaxy and yeah, I kinda want them to win...but if I leave the HDC and they've lost two minutes later I could give a rat's @ss FFS, my weekend is not ruined like coming away from a miserable Saints loss at say Carrow Road. You're gonna kill me for saying this, but I look forward to watching some teams we're supposed to hate. Most of all the @rse (they play beautifully). Mank U are good to watch and so are Villa, West Ham and Fulham. Some top teams ain't e.g. Chelsk are a boring as hell and the scousers for all their self-proclaimed importance, still hoof the ball up over the top to Torres and hope Stevie G picks it up when the bleached blonde fux up. I was born just North of the Smoke and as (a very young 'un) liked the Spurs...do we go back to who we kinda liked in an earlier life? Do we pick a new team? Or do like my frequently 'soccer-satisfied' dad and just enjoy the wonderful sport? Kinda like do you remarry after a lifetime with a beloved wife that passes on?
  9. What did we get for him?
  10. Now that mate is FAF TBF !! ;-)
  11. Already 'into' football, it's soccer they could be dangerous at ;-)
  12. 35 game unbeaten runs....send in the Americans FFS
  13. Yeah...keep watching Brad. They show you loads of stuff about how krap life is in the civilized World to keep peasants like you happy with the awful life they have. So that the gullible will believe that their meaningless and empty existences are actually better than at least one or two people that live in the nation of the leaders of the free world...dream on and see you real soon.
  14. Awesome FFS!!
  15. August '76 FFS?
  16. Fully respect what you are saying, you have a strong point. What I am trying to get across is the he has done so much, so often and derserves more afore-thought than Fred Bloggs who may have numerous motives for being involved, when it is quite clear MLT's are not self motivated - they are selfless. So give him the best support and more of a chance than anyone....
  17. Trying to relate to your note here mate...even though it is not appropriate, it is legit to call someone 'A ginger ¢unt' (unless, of course, 'ginger' is being used derisively as an anti-gay term e.g. ginger beer), however it ain't legit to refer to an African-American as a 'dirt..' or 'dirty monkey'. That would be an illegal racist slander in a lot of Europe. Ironically (for Brad) it is legal to call anyone almost anything in the USA due to the 'freedom of speech' amendment...funny as much stick as the US takes (especially from stalker Brad) you can refer to people here being insulting and swearing about sexual preference, race, colour, creed, religion etc etc as long as it is not deemed to be threatening?? Personally, along with most of you, I believe racism, homophobia etc to be heinous, we have to ask ourselves does that give us the right to tell others that they cannot be passively racist??? A real gray area FFS - philosophy I guess. 'Sheepsh@ggers', could surely be percieved as bigotry or a form of (maybe) racism? "I'm sure JVD plays in the same team as black players who he gets on perfectly well with." A bad 'assumption I would say...other wise (allegedly) he wouldn't be calling players 'dirty monkeys'...do you/have you worked with "black" associates before and if so do find yourself calling them 'dirty monkeys'..nah, I thought not, neither do the rest of us. If he said it, he's racist - period, point blank. There is another whole 'born as/lifestyle choice' argument as well, you could say that anti catholic or anti semitism or anti obesity is accaptable to some as they are all lifestyle choices, whereas being racist or homophobic, anti the handicapped (or even maybe 'ginger haired') is 100% undebatable as y'born that way FFS? When I left Southampton 20 years and two days ago, we were a lot more thick skinned. I couldn't get over how politically correct I had to be here in California. However in the past twenty years us Brits have got a lot more sensitive it seems.... BTW, you made interesting points, hence my response...no criticism intented.
  18. That'll be another good topic for us to discuss in the very near future my witty, well-dressed, non-murdering, skinny friend...keep your eyes peeled for a friendly neighborhood 'American' in your vicinity soon sweety...
  19. What a POS http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=652151&sec=europe&cc=5901 allegedly of course...
  20. Once again...let's put all these differences of opinion aside for the time being and commit to giving MLT a more than positive and affirmative backing. He is a marvelous Saint and absolutely and quite obviously has our best interests at heart, he deserves our whole-hearted support, right.
  21. ....or just as a magnificent inspirational of the pure joy of (Southampton) football...
  22. I'm no germophobe mate, us Saints fans have stronger constitutions FFS ;-) ...Fareham has an idea, worship it...maybe a bit extreme, but I like the train of thought. The coffee mug was used this morning I have to admit, maybe it's in 'administration' or having a stay of execution FFS
  23. Guys, let's just commit to giving Matty every piece of support that we possibly can, bare in mind his huge contribution and loyalty. Maybe we could find it in our hearts to be more understanding with him than some random Joe Blow that may or may not have been involved. He deserves better backing than almost any other person.
  24. You vvankers - I am even more confused what to do with it now, at least I am laughing FFS
  25. Jeez...made me feel better, or are we all a little paranoid FFS?
