Does anyone know if he is still training with the club - trying to stay?

Sydy was a fantastic player...thrilling, a real crowd please. Exhilerating and an even nicer person. Met my young American girlfriend at Heathrow in '06 after she flew in from New York. She had no clue who he was, but commented on his red 'Saints' jacket. He kept her company and was totally charming for over an hour 'til my flight arrived from LA. I saw her running up to me with (you guessed it) a red 'Saints' jacket on. I know you'll think he was probably hitting on her...not the case, just a total gentleman. Of course he let her keep the jacket. She treasures it and enjoys watching the crossing more than the scoring in that clip...even tho' she was instigative in Ron's ops and adores him too.

Fair enough - typ0 or is it typo?

Note the winky-vvanky thing mush, it's a joke - maybe you should get a sense of humour and leave out insulting fellow Saints mate!

Benjii, good call mate. The problem is the travel. From his home in New Mexico he has to get at least one connection to London, it's a long haul. With his big, long legs and hip disposition it is uncomfortable to say the least. He was wanted big time for the Terry Paine book signing, however, due to the timing of his second hip op - rehab etc it was regrettably not possible. However...I will work on it. Just image the fan impact on Big Ron appearing before a critical game and throwing up some of his magnificent goals on the 'big-screen'. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9024836154390592659&q=ron+davies

No one has mentioned Big Lawrie for gaffer??? Ballie not available for a 'dream team' again, so how about a Keggy/Big Lawrie partnership...I mean they have always been a mutual admiration society!!

Our ex-superstar centre forward is thrilled to bits that we've been put back into operation. He shared a few (horror) stories of old school football finance matters and said things ain't always what they seem. The main thing is that wanted to express that he too shares our joy, it makes him very happy to think of his 'Southampton Family' in a much better place. On the health front he is breathing better (he needs to quit the cigars FFS) and therefore able to do more excersise for his repaired hips. Chris, his wife is a little improved also after her illness set-back.

Lord Lucan couldn't have been at SMS yesterday as he was riding Shergar in the 2.30 at Chepstow FFS

Basically Roy Keane is a horrible tvvat, a bully and worst of all childish man. Sulks, retaliates visciously and is 100% negative and confrontational...the further he stays from Southampton the better FFS

TBF, my sentiments entirely SS

Sorry if this has already been posted...just seen it here in the old colonies y'know. What a class act FFS http://www.skysports.com/video/clips/0,23791,15855_5425040,00.html Met him last August, very confident and businesslike individual. Nothing but respect. Good luck mush....(Gus Hiddink FAF)

Not sure, but I don't think so, he's played in Holland...maybe Canada's best player. Another fabulous player I saw last night is this Rolando Ecobar for Panama, what an enjoyably arrogant presence he has, fantastic control - complete confidence. Also what match Panama 1:1 Mexico FFS. 4 ejections...goalie got a black eye, injured Panamanian striker was pelted by Mexifans. Mexicoach kicked Panama winger in the nuts as he ran down the wing.....crazy stuff. 14 minutes+ of stoppage time, ref completely lost control - added about 10 odd...what a great spectacle!!

We probably all want promotion, whether we get it will be another thing. Defo more likely than a few weeks ago, however, if we get it how would you like to get it?? Think of your viewing and entertainment experience and all the tales you'll tell those that 'weren't there'. 1. Blow away pretty well all our opponents and easily claw back the 10 points criusing to the title? 2. Have a thrilling ride before just stealing the title? 3. Somehow getting an automatic promo spot? 4. Have a gut-wrenching, helter-skelter ride to just get into th play-offs, then win at Wembley?

Sorry mate?? Tread on your toes or something?

I know you guys always kill me for recommending US players, so I've been watching closely in this region for other potential Saints stars - not just American players. Shalrie Joseph - Powerful, big, talented Grenada midfielder. Dwayne De Rosario - Similar description to Joseph 'cept this Canadian plays in the hole and scores a lot of goals. Walter 'Benny' Martinez - Quick, goal-scoring Honduran winger playing for Alaves in Spain Carlos Costly - Iconic Honduran, had loan success with Brum Julián De Guzman - Awesome Canuck defensive mid Marcel De Jong - Young - good and holds a Dutch passport There's a few Jamaicans & T&T'ns but you'll know 'em, all the good Costa Ricans are already abroad and we can't afford any of the good Mexicans....tons of great US players for League One, but I'm giving that a wide berth.

Sad t'say, that this maybe a little off the mark. Dunc has awesome contacts and is the most trustworthy of sources...however I am led to believe that 'hic-ups' are as bad as pompo are suffering on this one....

It's been The Spinnaker The Silver Fern The Maypole and now it's Sharkeez in Downtown Surf City FFS (tho' I use The Harp more)

True...from little acorns, bigger picture stuff and muppets like me over thinking things...

Hmm...now there's a thought!!

So...now do I repair my mug or buy a new one? We are not broken any more, the hurt is over. Our beloved family has recovered from a potentially terminal illness. Rejoice FFS Are Saints mended or is this a fresh start...it's significant in my coffee cup repair or replace process ;-)

Thanks everyone, your making this fascinating reading. Here's three more....remember 'surprising' who good they were at that stage. Graham Roberts playing midfield for Tottenham, early in his Spurs career. Seem to remember they won 3-1...did he score two or even three maybe? Can someone check my mate Dunc's book or something?? This is a little odd one also. Paul Madeley for dirty Leeds, after all the other had got old, died or fuct off in the '79 LC semi at the Dell...he seemed about 47 years old and yet was composed, controlling and dominant from start to finish (just not being able to stop that rampant goal-scoring machine Terry Curran). Lastly....a real Classic, Mooro, yes Mooro, but not the Bobby of his halcyon West Ham days. This one the tired old timer seemingly taking advantage of Alec Stock's generous wage offer at Div II Fulham. This game, remembered by many of us, will be thought of more for Best's ejection for confirming he believed the official to be a '****' after a Slough tackle and then for Rodney Marsh feigning injury when in fact sulking of the park in sympathy with his idol Best. However, England's blonde Bobby...we had Channon and Ossie in full flight and at their cavalier best. All that stood between them and literally a cricket score was the truly 'World' class defending of a tired, slow, aged superstar. I will always hold Bobby Moore in the highest esteem...what a class act!! Or is my memory blurred?

"the speed and size"...neither heard anything so simply but perfectly put FFS

Keown let MLT loose once Saints 3:2 Arse 2001 ;-)
