  4. W H Ireland shares up 76% this year...
  5. That was him cutting off his nose to spite his face. He'd been done un like a kipper with the ramped share price and this was his parting shot.
  6. My dog is "my dog", he follows me around like a sheep. Lovely temperament too.
  7. It made me laugh how Rupert bought the radio station. The representative of the radio station rocked up at St Marys and entered Lowe's office. Without giving the bloke a chance to speak old ruddy cheeks made an offer - take it of leave it. The representative took it because it was more than he was going to ask.

    Titanic Belfast

The thing is apart from Southampton being a port for departures/arrivals there's no other point of cruise ships using it. There is loads of money to be made by having dockside amenities. Portsmouth puts Southampton to shame.
  9. Of course it wasn't. I don't think you understand the concept of a listed company. It's all about having the ability to give a slice of the cake to shareholders.
  10. I got halfway down which is something I never do. The underlying issue was our PLC status. Clubs be they social clubs, bowls clubs, bridge clubs etc etc should be all about providing a service and reinvesting the proceeds collected in doing so. Syphoning money out of a club is just wrong and that ultimately was our downfall because it put us at a disadvantage to well run privately owned clubs who's model we could not compete against. I'm surprised that we survived for so long.
  11. If WHU v RFC is a draw and we win i'll be quietly confident. However the biggest game is undoubtedly SFC v RFC. Win that and we should be home and dry.
  12. http://www.titanicbelfast.com/Home.aspx It looks well worth a visit and is going to bring millions into the local economy. It could have been Titanic Southampton, but for the lack of ambition and foresight of the powers that be.
  13. We've still got a lot of work to do yet.

  18. Well he wasn't sceptical enough, and given his background and the fact he is/was chairman of W H Ireland, he fooked up big time. The SP was allowed to be ramped up and he çould have intervened if he'd been on the ball. His negligence cost him millions.
  19. Rubbish (IMO of course) we were never going out of business. Once in admin we were ripe for picking. As DP points out it's highly unlikely that the Liebherr bid was sorted over night. Multi million pound investments take a lot of planning and groundwork.
  20. My thoughts exactly. Without people like Tommac and the increased SP Lowe and Co could probably have sold us to someone, but once that SP went up to something like 50p we were overvalued and no-one would touch us. This swallowed up time and admin resulted. We were then bought for a snip. Now i'm not for one minute suggesting that our current owners were behind Tommac and the like, but what can't be disputed is that the actions of Tommac and the like enabled the purchase at a knocked down price. There were in my opinion quite a few interested parties who could've benefitted and any one of them might have seen the advantage of having a Tommac.
