The Spending Review (tackling the Socialists debt mountain)
dune replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
Cut cuts cuts, that's all we hear about, but I haven't noticed any that affect me. I've had a pay rise in line with inflation every year too. I think some people just like to complain for the sake of it. -
I mostly use travelrepublic and have never had any problems. Them and the My group are the best deals i've found.

We still have our AAA rating so we are doing something right. -

And this is precisely what we want them to do. Have you checked the polls lately? If you do I hope you'll be as delighted as me to see that measures such as cutting benefits are popular. -

We are the Tories, we do what we want. -
Did you mistakenly buy two the same?

Hardly. With our thin on the ground squad and lack of ambition on the signings front we are desperate. The wheels came off before Christmas and wasn't addressed early in the transfer window and the momentum has been lost. The only positive is that it can be turned around but we need to get the cheque book out for a proven quality partner for Lambert or promotion this season won't happen. Instead of lodging bids that have no chance of success, Cortese now needs realise that the cost of innaction and failing to gain promotion from the position we're in far outweighs paying the market price for a player in the January window.

Fergusson is trusted implicitly to deal with his players because he's a great manager. Clough was trusted implicitly to deal with his players because he was a great manager. Both managers could never have worked any other way and they wouldn't have stood for it. I just think Cortese needs to show some faith in Nigel Adkins because I happen to think that he knows what he's doing. Agreed?

I hear you hypo.

Well I for one respect Puncheon immensely for what he did on twiiter. He felt under threat and he decided that the best form of defence was attack and he highlighted that Cortese was picking the team and undermining the managers authrority over handling players. I have full confidence in Nigel Adkins man management abilities and so should the chairman. my thinking is that Cortese saw the twitter comment and thought "sh/t" and decided that this story needed papering over PDQ. At present he has the happy clappys eating out of the palm of his hands, but that can soon change and being thought of as a chairman that picks the team and doesn't trust the manager is a reputation no chairman wants.

He's a good player so i'm very pleased that Cortese has stopped being petty and climbed down.

It's right up there with Ruperts catering.

Been doing lots of searching for good deals on hotels and I have found that comparison sites are a waste of time as they only seem to link to booking sites, as opposed to booking and paying before you travel sites. In any case the booking sites like hotels.com don't give very good prices anyway from what i've seen. Check this site out if you're planning a holiday - some really good prices! http://www.mytravel.com/booking/uptripsbase?method=refresh
