I bet you used to drink at the rack and manager too?
-
It's still a factor and another nail in the coffin. The influx of yuppies to rural villages is also another factor.

Did you forget to add Keith Legg?

The change in attitude towards drink driving has affected country pubs because people used to drive to them from surrounding villages and towns. The smoking ban has made pubs sterile and has driven a lot of smokers away because it's not such a fun place to go, and because many smokers have stopped going so have their mates. You assume i support drink driving and smoking, but if you weren't so thick and quick to gob off you'd realise i was stating a fact.

It may well be old fashioned, but it's still a horrible sight.

Kingsland Tavern or The Joiners?

Another of my old favourites.

Leave the shopping centre alone. With the tricorn centre now gone it will soon be declared a world heritage site. Did you ever go in the royal oak when Ann and Rob ran it, used to be a good crack of an evening before hitting jollys or the classy sity of sound, but is now full of students.

zzzzzzzzz. You make too many assumptions.

It used to be one of my pre match watering holes. Has it changed with the new landlord, i,e have the newspaper cuttings been taken down?
-
The Anchor in East Street is a strange place. There's all far right newspaper cuttings on the walls. I think Eastleighsoulboy drinks here.

Sounds like the pubs around QPR's ground.

Not been in the Angel for years, it used to be alright for a few games of pool on a Sunday. An old teddy boy used to to serve behind the bar/was the landlord. Reckon it would have been a pretty rough pub a few years before.

Women shouldn't drink pints. Have a word with yourself.

LOL at Robsk denying he was ginger the other day. -
Is it still in the same family and still spit and sawdust? Is the old girl still alive? Are there still clapped out cars/tractors in the "garden"? They used to do a cracking ploughmans.
-
Years ago it wasn't such an issue as their weren't the number of cars on the roads and most people have been over the limit and driven at some stage. A generation back it wasn't an issue.

The smoking ban and the the attitude to/enforcement of drink driving laws has killed village pubs. The only way they can make money is through food.

My grass is growing nicely, and is completely weed free. I saw the forecast for rain today so yesterday evening applied some granular feed to make it even better.

Cheers, i did missread what he said. So the santander zero which offers a 0% foreign exchange fee is the best bet. In that case i'll be loading it with a few quid to spend in "reputeable" establishments.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/5193398241,70293 Scroll down the page to the debit cards section and you'll see how much your bank rips you off.
-
Because you get hammered* with fee's when you use a debit card abroad. There are no fee's with the santander zero credit card. Cash is still king though according to scotty. (when i say hammered it's not a huge amount at 2%ish plus a possible usage fee, but it's still prudent to find the best option) e.g, if you spend £1000 on purchases with you debit card then 2% is £20 down the drain, and some debit card providers charge £1-2 for each transaction so you could easily double that to £40, and then because of the poor rate in comparison to rates you get in resort that wasted money can rise further. I reckon you could be looking at between a £50-£60 rip off all factored in. You could pay for a meal and night out for two for that.

Cheers, in that case i'll do what I usually do and take a wad of £10 notes, but you do need to use a credit card if you hire a car abroad if you if you pay in advance. That said this may have changed because i notice that holidayautos (the company i always use) now take payment for windscreen/tyre/undercarriage cover in advance. The ammount they're asking seems a little excessive @ £80, but paying in advance saves the hassle at the desk.
