  1. I'm not suggesting that my interpretation is right and yours is wrong, although you seem to be saying that you're right and i'm wrong. I'm saying that in this day and age I do not consider our country to be all about Dukes and the Clergy and small holders and tenant farmers and peasants.
  2. Other years i've bypassed the travel agent and sorted out holiday arrangements independantly. I'm pleased that this year we're going with Thomas Cook.
  3. Upper Class, but that's just how I choose to interpret the class system. He is extremely wealthy and extremely powerful. You can still use the old fashioned system of the landed gentry and the commoner, but i've got no chip on my shoulder so prefer to look at this in real terms.
  4. You can't help resulting to personal insults can you. I've ignored Wiltshire because he's just a kid, but you are a grown adult. As to the question of class it can be interpreted in terms of wealth and power or in terms of birth. In terms of wealth and power the Cleggs are upper class.
  5. Cleggs father owns a 20-room chalet in the Alps and a chateau near Bordeaux. He is also chairman of the United Trust Bank, which specialises in financing property developers. Hardly middle class.
  6. Sorry i've now forgotton the question.
  7. There is no "and". Mandelson and Brown made a big deal out of Cameron and the "playing fields of Eton". I'm simply pointing out that Clegg and Cameron are both upper class and both were educated in public schools.
  8. I support any measures that will bring in revenue from the banks that were bailed out by tax payers, but the industry is vital to this country so we must ensure conditions make the city globally competitive. If you over tax the banking sector the banks will simply go somewhere else and then there will be no taxation to be had.
  9. That they're both posh and that they both went to public schools.
  10. What ever happens Britain has to remain the hub of global banking. A balance needs to be struck between taxation and preventing an exodus.
  11. So basically Nick Clegg and David Cameron come from the same stable.
  12. Both had privilidged upper class starts in life, but as far as i'm aware Camerons father isn't a greedy banker.
  13. Are you blonde?
  14. Why does Nick Smugg want to hide his public school education, his upper class roots, and his poshness in general? What you see is certainly not what you get with Nick.
  15. Volcanoes can arupt for months, even years. The prevailing sw wind should see us OK though for much of the summer.
  16. This is the whisper doing the rounds.

    Alan Pardew

As for Pardew he got it wrong at Brighton and was too slow to change things, but since then (and probably since he read my constructively critical thread) he has got his act together and has done a good job.
