  1. Your assertion that anyone with cash is automatically privileged and doesn't know hard work is entirely false. Behind a significant proportion of the private sector is someone who has set up a business, worked bloody hard for years, made themselves a lot of money in the process through being entrepreneurial and have created numerous jobs for other people. People who create jobs deserve the rewards. I've just become a shareholder in a friend's son's company. Lad in his mid 20s started out in the garden shed a few years ago, now employs 3 other people full-time on decent wages and is doing extremely well for himself. From a business perspective it's people like him who should be getting every tax break going (within reason).
  2. Replace those quotes with the different parties respective soundbites and you could be describing almost any politician in this country
  3. Think he deserves a thread of his own. I have to admit I winced when it dawned on me that KD was going to play the rest of the season after Fraser's injury. However I think he's done a brilliant job in the circumstances so far. The quality of our defence does help to a point but KD has already pulled off some key stops in the games played so far. He has really struggled in the PL previously but at 38 years young he really has been a solid backup and done a thoroughly professional job. I thought he was finished in the PL years ago but he has proved me wrong. Fair play to him, great servant to the club.
  4. MP's pay is controlled by the expenses watchdog and the MPs have no power to vote on it. The expenses watchdog that then decided to give the MPs a 10% pay rise which the MPs had no power to veto when the bad PR hit the fan.
  5. And it's the price freeze that sums up Labour to a tee. An opportunist gimmick to fool people into thinking they still represent the working class, which ended up exposing their naivety of business and how rates work. Miliband/Balls preaching to freeze energy bills when they were at their highest tells you all you need to know. You can get things wrong (like the coalition bodging the RM sale) but then there's party policies that don't even understand basic economics. Taking the global financial crisis completely out of the equation, how anyone can still defend Gordon Brown's and Allistair "The money will be borrowed" Darling's economic record is beyond me.
  6. Indeed, and Brown stuck two fingers up at the IMF who were warning of just that. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2005/apr/18/politics.ukgeneralelection20051 Then a few years later, the financial crisis hit.
  7. I saw that last night. I thought Sturgeon and Davidson came over the best. Ill echo the comments above about why the heck Murphy was elected as Scottish Labour leader. He has about as much character as a lamp post. The UKIP bloke was so bad it was hilarious
  8. I'd be very surprised. Whilst I'm in a safe Tory constituency where the Labour candidate would do well to get their deposit back, I really cannot see how that many of the 'undecided' see Miliband/Balls as remotely electable. Also Dave will be guaranteed to dig his heels in unless there is a clear cut Labour victory (which is highly unlikely). It'll be a Tory led coalition again, but who they'll get into bed with this time is the million dollar question. UKIP taking on the Lib Dem role is my best guess.
  9. Don't blame him having hit the woodwork 8 times this season
  10. The 'bedroom tax' is Labour's greatest propaganda success. 1) It's not a tax because it's not a levy on earnings. It's a reduction in a subsidy. 2) Ed Miliband voted for the introduction of the "Bedroom Tax" as part of the 2007 Welfare Reform Act. The Conservatives may have
  11. Leader's debate starting in 20 mins.
  12. Actually he didn't. Miliband opposed the government motion but put forward an amendment to invade Syria with more 'safeguards'. It was defeated by over 100 votes. He was accused by some of politicking and cynically attempting to use the Syria conflict for domestic political gain.
  13. Just seen the Lib Dems party political broadcast. A 3 minute televised definition of nothingness. They'd have done themselves more favours if the bloke had crashed the car.
  14. No he isn't mercifully Portugal 0-2 Cape Verde Islands HT
  15. Portugal 0-1 Cape Verde Islands
  16. Vettel beats both Mercedes in a straight fight. Be interesting to see if they can keep that up, could turn into a very interesting season
  17. Suspect the bloke suffered from a long-standing mental illness, had a chronic fit of depressive psychosis and his head went. Literally stopped caring about anything and everything in life in an instant. Like turning into a robot with someone else at the controls, and the concept of rational thought disappearing entirely. The mistake he made was thinking he could handle it.
  18. Cameron & Miliband Live has just started on C4
  19. The co-pilot was Andreas Lubitz
  20. True but the Tories have at least have some kind of philosophy, even if elements of their manifesto have been a complete shambles or implemented in a ridiculously harsh way. I'll be the first to admit I'm a Tory at heart but I look at Balls & Miliband and the first thing I think is "WTF happened to the Labour Party?" .
  21. Anyone watching Ed Balls in the Budget debate? Frankly, the thought of that clown managing the economy terrifies me.
  22. No doubt they were both Foster's fault
  23. Calm down. It's 1-1
  24. I like how the immediate reaction is to blame Foster and not one comment is made about the fact that both Costa and Oscar were continually allowed to run around inside the penalty area completely unmarked
  25. Which doesn't prove Putin had him killed. Nemtsov was shot on the Kremlin's doorstep in full public view. Putin's many things but he isn't stupid.
