It really wasn't. It was a superb tackle by Yoshida that fell kindly for Martial. Sadly its what happens when you give Man U 10 minutes of uninterrupted possession

And the Tories will laugh all the way to the next election, in the knowledge the Labour frontbench will actually believe the clone has an ounce of credibility. When Blair throws his support behind you, you know you're ****ed. I'll be fascinated if they do oust Corbyn. There'll be one or two of the Labour old guard finding themselves staring at the corpse of the party they joined decades ago. I'm not a betting man but I am kicking myself not having a flutter on Corbyn. Someone I know put £50 on him winning when he was 80-1.

Sit back and enjoy the ensuing civil war. Corbyn will get elected and there will be a coup within 5 minutes. The best thing Labour can do is let Corbyn get elected, reign in his more maverick far-left ideas, elevate his straight-talking approach at PMQs and fly it all under the banner of providing a genuine alternative to the Tories. What they will actually do is rebel, replace Corbyn with someone who they perceive to be electable, being oblivious to the whole thing being a complete shambles whilst Blair's ringing endorsement hammers the final nail in the coffin. I actually think they'll do more damage ousting Corbyn than if they let him get on with the job.

Is it right for the media to use images of refugee tragedy?
JackFrost replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Lounge
The Independent have been spot on with this. It's a refreshing reality check that removes the artificial construction from news stories. What is on the front page of the Independent is what paramedics/police officers/etc. have to deal with as a profession. Whilst the story is beyond tragic, all the populace have to do is look at an image of it. If people find that upsetting then spare a thought for the people who have to investigate how they died or deal with the dead body. Dead bodies don't just evaporate or disappear. The story is beyond tragic, and well done to the Independent. Glimpses into undiluted reality are a powerful thing. -
CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
JackFrost replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Yeah but he does it deliberately to wind people up, and get people into slanging matches. It's the attention he craves. He deliberately posts ultra-negative stuff on here so he'll be wrong and people will slag him off. He'll then wind them up. -

Well Blair's just given Corbyn a further popularity boost http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34100741 Blair accusing other people of living in a parallel reality is one of the funniest things I've read all year. Tells you all you need to know about the man.

I suspect Corbyn will narrowly miss out when enough voters go for the safe option (Burnham most probably) at the death. Like you say if Corbyn got the gig he'd do well to last 5 minutes (may as well have gone the whole hog with Dennis Skinner) Burnham will underwhelm his way to the 2020 election where we get a similar election result to 2015, although by then some fresh blood may just be credible enough to challenge. Both Hunt (Etonian) and Chuka (dirt) stand little chance.

First impressions are very good. The start button is a nice compromise between the classic Windows and Windows 8. It combines both. I like the task view. Other than that I haven't come across many visual changes

During the Steaua trip, didn't someone (Vicar of Dibley style) jump into what they thought was a puddle and it turned out to be waist deep drain or something?

Watching people trying to have a rational debate with CB Fry is as entertaining as it is with Alpine

It was a combination of the Tories' failings in the '90s and Blair being a master of manipulation. He played a blinder in the lead up to the '97 general election but the reason he won 3 elections was because he ultimately sold the party out to convince enough of the middle class to vote for them. "New Labour" was just another Tory party. By the time Gordon "no more boom and bust" Brown and Allistair "The money will be borrowed" Darling were in charge they were even coming up with Thatcherite policies like scrapping the 10p tax band. Even the timing of Blair's departure was carefully calculated. It was conveniently about 2 months before the 2007-08 financial crisis reared its ugly head, he even did Gordon up like a kipper. Blair sold the party out, and it hasn't had an identity ever since.

Blair won 3 elections because he capitalized on the entire country being sick to death of the Tories and maintained the success by winning elections off the back of the massive majority in '97. He sold the party out to get them into power and is one of the weakest leaders this country has ever had. Labour have largely been a directionless shambles ever since. I always predicted Corbyn would do far better then expected in the leadership contest. I would never vote for him in a million years, but with a bit of work he would actually offer a genuine alternative to the current government.

I can't say I'm surprised to see Corbyn doing so well in the Labour leadership race. He'd actually offer a real alternative to the current government.

Like the Thatcher/Major governments did?

WG never said we were in liquidation, he stated "If no buyer can be found then we are left with liquidation value". Whilst it didn't happen in our case (as ML took over), what WG stated isn't actually wrong.

You've misrepresented what WG said and you know it.

That might have something to do with the fact that he was the man in charge, and was ultimately accountable/responsible for the decisions made. Overall Lowe did a decent job up until when Strachan left but he then made a series of stupid decisions that cost this club dearly, a lot of them driven by ego. As soon as the person at the top has different priorities to the people below it will always end in tears, and during the Sturrock debacle it was clear he'd lost the plot completely. Lowe did put a lot in place for the long-run and he did have a vision, but his problem was that he couldn't control his ego. That's why his legacy to a lot of people can be summed up by the length of Tommy Forecast's last contract with us. Totally agree, especially with Wilde.

Your 'reality' illustrates to a tee why Labour bombed in the last election, and why large parts of traditional Labour territory voted Conservative.
