  1. Perhaps we could suggest such a course of action to TBH et al
  2. Nicely put, although as far as burning houses down I think Portsmouth and Southampton have a pretty equal legacy courtesy of the Luftwaffe
  3. Wikipedia's entry for 'Mass Hysteria' now refers to something called 'Conversion disorder', which seems to be the current term for this kind of behaviour where a more or less isolated group of people get themselves worked up: "Conversion disorder is where patients suffer apparently neurological symptoms, such as numbness, blindness, paralysis, or fits, but without a neurological cause. It is thought that these problems arise in response to difficulties in the patient's life, and conversion is considered a psychiatric disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fourth edition (DSM-IV).[1]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conversion_disorder I'm just making the point that Portsea Island is a small and isolated community where the truth seems to be what they want it to be

  12. Lets wait & see. A bit like the crowd of ghouls gathering at the scene of an RTA - policeman waving his hands repeating 'nothing to see here, move along' - fat chance
  13. Well quite - the fault could not possibly be with, for example, his leadership or preparations
  14. I can see how that will attract a field of outstanding and well-qualified candidates keen to work for nothing.

  20. The leopard doesn't change its shorts, as Terry Pratchett would say. They have shown that not only have they not changed their ways, they don't want to change their ways because they're special. And that is why they should be put out of their misery ASAP
  21. And about time too
  22. Seconded. Good post
  23. People pay good money to watch films depicting chains of events like these. And we're getting it all for free right now as it happens, I'm loving it!
