They contacted me on Saturday and said by Monday evening they needed a 100 word (~) summary on what Saints have done so far, and what will happen today. I said that there was a good chance Virgil van Dijk would sign on Monday night so they'd need to be able to swap that line with the other one, if it hadn't happened. They acknowledged that and promptly failed to do it during a shift changeover, from what I was told when I got back in touch. I've also got to do one when the window shuts, and keep them posted in the meantime. No worries, I just wanted to clarify as you're - understandably - not the only one to mention it to me!

I had no say in what made the final cut. But yes, I agree that we obviously had to recruit a Toby replacement and yes obviously VVD is on his way in.

Nope. He was left out of the squad for the final friendly match - against Leverkusen - then Ronald chucked him straight into the starting line-up at Anfield with no preseason games under his belt.

I've posted on here (and elsewhere) before that his agent was trying to tee up a move to MUFC last summer but it didn't come off. I always remember his goal against Swansea (which admittedly came in the weeks following the deadline) where he didn't celebrate and just stared over, in the game in which Koeman benched him and played JWP. (Vic then replaced JWP due to injury) I wonder if it goes that far back? SSN (who seem to be being fed by his agent) say it goes back about a year, now.
